Bard
Base Class: Bard

Joyous by nature, many in the College of Jests travel the world in the pursuit of performing in as many places as possible. There magic is more untamed and more crazed in nature. The magic brought on by there performances is both captivating and bizarre. They bring many strange blessings with them to any party they travel in.

Natural Performer

When you roll a 9 or below on a Performance check, treat the roll as a 10. You can never fail any Dexterity checks related to a performance.

Full of Surprises

Instead of using Bardic Inspiration to increase a skill check, attack roll, or saving throw, a creature can roll a d6 on the surprise table. The table improves as your Bardic Inspiration dice get bigger (5th, 10th, 15th).

Surprise Table:

  1.  A spirit of rainbow colored fire appears over the closest hostile creature. They take an additional 1d4 of fire damage when you hit them for 1 minute. (Deals an extra d4 at each table improvement.)
  2. Face paint magically appears on the creature, giving them advantage on Performance checks for 5 minutes. (The duration gets 5 minutes longer per table improvement.)
  3. Dust and small pebbles begin to circle you. You have +2 AC till the start of your next turn. The dust and pebbles fall to the ground. (The bonus increases by +1 at each table improvement.)
  4. A glowing jewel appears in a free hand or in a bag on your person. The jewel can be thrown at a target, on a hit the jewel explodes dealing 1d8 force damage. (Deals a d8 more damage at each table improvement)
  5. A heart appears over the creature’s head. The creature gains 5 temporary hit points. When the heart breaks, it deals 1d4 magical piercing damage to the creature that hit to remove the temporary hit points. (The temporary hit points and damage improve by 5 and a d4, respectively, as the table improves.)
  6. A black venom appears on your hands. When you touch a creature, they must succeed a DC 12 Constitution saving throw or take 4 points of poison damage at the start of each turn. The creature can roll again to remove the effect. (The DC and damage increase by 2 when there is a table improvement.)

Charming Performance

When someone watches you perform for at last one minute (must roll performance check for the performance), they must roll an Insight check against your performance roll or be charmed by you for a number of hours equal to half your proficiency bonus. If they succeed, they can’t be charmed by you in this way for 24 hours. Creatures charmed by you in this way are unusually happy. You can do this once per long rest.

Magical Madness

When a creature you inspired rolls on the Surprise Table, you can expend a spell slot of 2nd level over higher when a creature rolls on your Surprise Table to either grant them a secondary effect from the Surprise Table or allow them to also roll Bardic Inspiration as normal.
