Not all Aarakocra fly through the skies. Some stay on the ground, defending their nest spires and the eggs within from danger.

Wing Stance

Egg wardens utilize their wings to maximize defense.

As a bonus action, you assume the wing stance. While in the wing stance, you gain +2 to AC, creatures provoke opportunity attacks when they enter your range, and you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on an attack roll against a creature other than you that is within 5 feet of you.

You remain in Wing Stance until you are rendered Incapacitated, Unconscious, Stunned, or Grappled; or you use your reaction to end it.

While in Wing Stance you cannot fly but can hover (if enabled from another source).

Dive Bomb

When you enter Wing Stance while mid-air, you will fall straight downward. You will take no damage from falling this way and instead transfer that damage to the object or creature you land on. When you land, make an acrobatics check to avoid landing prone. The DC equals 10 + (feet fallen/10).

Consult the DMG for rules related to falling to allay any confusion.

Feather Stance

Assuming the Feather Stance, your wings become rigid like blades. When you move with your flying speed, creatures of your choice that you pass within 5 feet of must make a dexterity saving throw against your Ki save, taking slashing damage equal to two rolls of your martial arts die + dex on a failed save or half on a successful save.

Additionally, when you trigger your Dive Bomb feature, you can also glide. You can glide 2 ft horizontally for every 1 ft downward.

Iron Pinions

Your training has hardened your feathers into steel. Your Wing Stance now adds +3 to your AC and your Feather Stance deals 3 rolls of your martial arts die.
