Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

The Sorcerous Portalist is a master of spatial magic, weaving the threads of reality to open doorways through space and time. Unlike other sorcerers who channel raw elemental power or tap into deep ancestral magic, the Portalist bends the fabric of the universe itself, creating portals that link distant locations in an instant.

Born with an innate connection to the hidden paths between realms, Portalists excel at manipulating space on the battlefield, allowing themselves and their allies to move with impossible speed and precision. With a flick of their wrist, they can summon shimmering gateways, step between worlds, and relocate their companions to safety or into striking positions. As their power grows, so too does their ability to open portals between planes of existence, granting them unparalleled mobility across dimensions.

Portalists are versatile, strategic combatants, capable of turning the tide of battle by repositioning allies, evading foes, and even offering defensive benefits through their magical portals. Their unique ability to control space makes them invaluable to any party, as they transcend the limits of ordinary travel and offer a glimpse into the endless possibilities of spatial manipulation.

Whether traversing treacherous terrain or navigating the fabric of reality itself, the Sorcerous Portalist walks a path that few can comprehend, bending the universe to their will and unlocking the secrets of existence with every step.

Portal Manipulation

At 3rd level, you can create temporary gateways that bend space to your will. As a Bonus Action, you can create a pair of portals linking two unoccupied spaces you can see within 30 feet of each other. The portals remain open for 1 minute or until you use this feature again.

  • Size Restriction: Medium or smaller creatures can move through the portals. A creature can only pass through a portal once per turn.
  • Usage: You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of once). You regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.

Additionally, you learn the Misty Step spell, which does not count against your spells prepared.

Spatial Swap

When you create a portal using your Portal Manipulation, you can, as part of the same Bonus Action, swap places with one willing creature within 30 feet of one of the portals. The creature must be within the same size restriction as the portals.

  • Range & Usage: The range for this feature is 30 feet from either portal. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of once) per Long Rest.

Guardian Portal

At 6th level, your portals offer protection as well as mobility. When an ally passes through one of your portals, they gain temporary hit points equal to your Sorcerer level + your Charisma modifier.

  • Defensive Buff: While a creature has temporary hit points from this feature, they gain advantage on saving throws against being frightened, charmed, or stunned. This benefit lasts for 1 minute or until the temporary hit points are depleted.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of once) per Long Rest.

Master Portalist

At 14th level, your mastery of spatial magic allows you to create an additional portal during combat. You can now maintain two separate sets of portals simultaneously, allowing more complex battlefield control.

  • Additional Portal: You can create an additional portal pair using your Portal Manipulation feature without expending an extra use. You can maintain both portal pairs for up to 1 minute or until you lose concentration (as if concentrating on a spell).
  • Concentration Buff: You gain advantage on Constitution saving throws made to maintain concentration on spells when within 10 feet of any of your portals.

Interplanar Mastery

At 18th level, you unlock the power to traverse the planes. As an action, you can open a portal that leads to a location on a different plane of existence. The portal appears within 30 feet of you, and you and any willing creatures you choose within 30 feet of the portal can step through it.

  • Interplanar Travel: The destination must be a place you are familiar with on the chosen plane. You and your allies can use this portal to travel across planes once per Long Rest.
  • Portal Size: This portal can transport Large creatures, unlike your regular portals.
