Rogue
Base Class: Rogue

Candlekeep Inquisitors are the eyes and ears of the great library, trained in arcane secrets and mental resilience. They are adept at solving mysteries, investigating the unknown, and protecting the world from dangerous knowledge. Whether they're retrieving forgotten tomes or interrogating those who seek to abuse magic, Candlekeep Inquisitors use intellect and cunning to outwit opponents. They serve as Candlekeep’s first line of defense when ancient prophecies threaten reality or powerful artifacts fall into the wrong hands. Their methods rely on logic, knowledge, and swift action to ensure that nothing escapes their grasp.

While most rogues are known for their stealth and deception, Candlekeep Inquisitors focus on uncovering secrets, manipulating magical forces, and defending themselves against the arcane. Their abilities allow them to decipher ancient texts, protect against magical threats, and gain valuable insights through interrogation and careful observation. Candlekeep Inquisitors are not just protectors of the library—they are the custodians of truth, ensuring that knowledge remains in responsible hands.

Arcane Investigator

When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, your pursuit of knowledge has sharpened your investigative skills. You gain proficiency in the Arcana and History skills if you don’t already have it. Your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make that uses either of those proficiencies.

Attention to Details

Starting at 3rd level, you gain the ability to decipher an opponent's tactics and develop a counter to them. As a bonus action, you make an Intelligence (Investigation) check against a creature you can see that isn't incapacitated, contested by the target's Charisma (Deception) check. If you succeed, you can use your Sneak Attack against that target even if you don't have advantage on the attack roll, but not if you have disadvantage on it.

This benefit lasts for 1 minute or until you successfully use this feature against a different target.

Scholar's Resolve

At 9th level, your ability to gather and retain information is unparalleled. You can recall anything you have read or heard in the past month, and you gain advantage on Intelligence (Investigation) checks. You know all languages, and you have advantage on Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma saving throws.

Counter-Weave

At 13th level, you can unravel the magical energies around you with precision. When a creature within 30 feet of you casts a spell, you can use your reaction to reduce the damage caused by the spell by 3d10. If this reduces the damage to 0, the spell has no effect on you.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 1), and you regain all expended uses after a long rest.

Mind Breaker

At 17th level, your ability to break the will of your enemies is unparalleled. When you successfully deal sneak attack damage to a creature, you can force it to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier). On a failed save, the creature is stunned for 1 minute. It can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.

You can use this Bonus Action a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.
