Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

You have made a pact with a being from the realm of shadows, a being who is shadow manifest. Their existence and intentions are dark reflections of those on the material plane. To such a being death is embraced, and life is shunned.

Shadow Glide

Starting at 3rd level, you can vanish into your own shadow in response to harm. When you take damage, you can use your reaction to teleport up to 15 feet to an unoccupied space you can see. If the target destination is in dim light or darkness you are invisible until the start of your next turn or until you attack or cast a spell.

At 6th level the range you can teleport increases to 30 feet.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Umbra Spells

The magic of your patron ensures you always have certain spells ready; when you reach a Warlock level specified in the Umbra Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.

Umbra Spells
Warlock Level Spells
3 Bane, False Life, Blindness/Deafness, Gentle Repose
5 Phantom Steed, Speak with Dead
7 Death Ward, Evard's Black Tentacles
9 Cloudkill, Creation

Shadow of Death

Starting at 6th level, when you reduce a hostile creature with a CR of at least 1/2 to 0 hit points, you may summon a shadow from its corpse. This feature may be used a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, resetting at the end of a long rest.

The summoned shadow shares your initiative, acting at the end of your turn. You may verbally command one or more of your summoned shadows during your turn, requiring no action or bonus action. If no command is given the shadow will move toward the nearest hostile creature it can perceive, using up to its full movement while avoiding sunlight, and will attack the creature using its Strength Drain action. When a path to a potential target is not available the shadow will instead remain in place and dodge.

The shadow remains for 10 minutes, disappearing in a puff of smoke at the end of that time. It disappears immediately if its hit points are reduced to 0, if the summoner becomes unconscious, if the hit points of the corpse are raised above 0, or the shadow is dismissed as a free action.

Penumbral Soul

Starting at 10th level, your connection to the shadows now saturates your body. You have resistance to necrotic damage.

In addition, when you would be reduced to 0 hit points, you can use your reaction to drop to 1 hit point instead and cause your body to erupt with deathly energy. Each creature of your choice that is within 30 feet of you takes necrotic damage equal to 2d10 + your warlock level. You are granted a number of temporary hit points equal to half the damage delt. You then gain 1 level of exhaustion, which cannot be removed except by taking a long rest.

Once you use this reaction, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest

Shadow Projection

Starting at 14th level, you can untether your sprit from your physical form and infuse it into your own shadow, detaching it from your body.

As an action, you can infuse your sprit into your shadow and detach it from your body. The body you leave behind is unconscious and in a state of suspended animation.

Any damage or other effects that apply to your shadow or physical body affects the other. Your shadow can remain outside your body for up to 1 hour or until your concentration is broken (as if concentrating on a spell). When your projection ends, your shadow returns to your body or your body magically teleports to your shadow's space (your choice). While projecting your shadow, you gain the following benefits:

  • Your shadow and body gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage.
  • When you cast a spell of the illusion or necromancy school, the spell doesn't require verbal or somatic components or material components that lack a gold cost.
  • You have a flying speed equal to your walking speed and can hover.
  • You can move through creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain, but you take 1d10 force damage if you end your turn inside a creature or an object.
  • While in dim light or darkness you may hide as a bonus action.

Once you use this feature, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest.
