Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

For some, fire is a fearful thing. For these Rangers, it is a morbid fascination. The Firebug, whether by some connection to the primal plane of Fire, an unlocked lineage's power, or studied arcane ability, can wield flame as an artist wields their brush. They stride across the planes with a fervor that matches the magic that smolders within them, burning all that stands in their way. To onlookers, they can be the spark that ignites a revolution, a warm hearth flame that keeps them warm, or just a chaotic pyromaniac who wants to watch the world burn. The Firebug, however, just wants to watch things burn.

Burning Mark

3rd-level Firebug feature

Your connection with the realm of fire allows you to turn your quarry into living explosives. Once a turn, when you hit a creature marked by your Hunter's Mark, you can force it to make a Constitution saving throw. On a failure, all the damage done by your attack becomes fire damage and the target is ignited. An ignited target takes your Wisdom modifier in fire damage at the beginning of their turn for 1 minute. The creature can spend an action or move into a body of nonflammable liquid to put themselves out to end the ignited effect

Fire Starter

3rd-level Firebug feature

Your flames burn brighter than most. Fire damage that you deal ignores resistance and deals double damage to objects and structures. In addition, your Hunter's Mark can target objects and structures.

Pyre Soul

7th-level Firebug feature

Your body is honed to resist the intense heat. You have resistance to fire damage and can not suffer from exhaustion due to high temperatures. You also gain proficiency in Constitution saving throws.

Burn them Down

11th-level Firebug feature

The pyre in your soul burns ever brighter. Your Burning Mark feature gains a host of additional effects that can be used only once per turn. You can use them a shared number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.

Detonation. When you activate Burning Mark you can choose to detonate the creature. Flames erupt from the marked creature and they along with all creatures within 10 feet of them (besides you) must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or take twice your Hunter's Mark die in Fire damage. On a success, they take half the damage.

Backdraft. When you activate Burning Mark you can choose to cause a backdraft. You take the disengage action for free and, until the end of your turn, any surface you walk upon will be set aflame. The fire is 3 feet tall and lasts until the start of your next turn. Any creature that starts its turn or moves through the flame must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or take your Hunter's Mark die in Fire damage and be ignited.

Smoke and Cinder

15th-level Firebug feature

Your body can spontaneously combust in a moment. When you take damage, you can take a Reaction to raise your AC by 4 for that attack, potentially having it miss you. If it misses or hits, the attacker must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or be dealt half of the damage of the attack as fire damage. If your Hunter's Mark does not already target the attacking creature you can move it onto that creature for free.
