Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

One of the most ancient paladin orders, grove wardens first kept watch over sacred forests and woods were secret rites were performed. They are often servants of a god of the wild, keeping a close eye on their deity's domain in the depths of the ancient growth where few outsiders enter. Aside from their religious duties, they have an affinity for flora and fauna of all sorts, and often keep a familiar in the form of a small animal who acts as a liaison between the paladin and their god. As societies spread from the groves and caves, so too did the grove wardens, taking up residence in shrines on holy mountain peaks and desert oases.

Known for their down-to-Earth wisdom, honesty, and loyalty, grove wardens seldom leave their charges. But, on the rare occasions they do, their skills in locking down intruders and applying potent divine curses help them to keep the wilds, treasures, and treasured people safe.

Forest Watcher

Your connection to your deity's domain manifests as the Find Familiar spell, this link replacing your ability to Find a Steed as most paladins do; the holy power of the wilderness invested in you also protects you when unarmored and gives you the ability to bestow curses on evildoers.

You have a bonus to your unarmored AC equal to your Charisma modifier, and gain the Find Familiar spell. In addition, when you use your Lay On Hands feature, you can expend 5 points from it to attempt to lay a divine curse on an enemy: it must make a Wisdom saving throw, and on a failure it is Poisoned for one minute, and must repeat the save at the beginning of its turns, being no longer affected on a success. At level 14, you can also choose from among Blinded, Deafened, or Charmed.

Aura of Vigilance

Your dedication and faith have enhanced your vigilance, keeping your senses open and sharpened. You and your allies can't be surprised or put to sleep by magic while in your Aura of Protection. Additionally, you have Blindsight in the range of your aura.

Smite of Sealing

Your magical smite now radiates binding energy. Whenever you cast Divine Smite, the target must make a Wisdom saving throw or be Sealed until the end of your next turn; a Sealed creature is Incapacitated and its Speed is 0 and can't increase.
