School of the Bear

Famed as powerful warriors the members of the School of the Bear are at home in the middle of combat.  Although proficient in all areas of witcher training the bear school favors weapon training and the use of heavy armor over alchemy or signs.  Expect to see a bear school witcher clad in heavy armory with one of their signature silver greatswords going confidently into a drowner nest to take their heads.

Bear School Techniques

You have learned how to use heavy armor effectively and can don or doff armor in half the time it normally should.  You now have the heavy armor master feat.  You have training in all signs but your school's research into the quen sign replaces the base version.

Active Shield

A number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest you can shrug off damage and reflect it back at an enemy shielding yourself in the process.  When an enemy hits you with an attack while you have an active quen sign before the enemy applies damage reduce the damage by half and take that damage; the enemy takes the other half.

Superior Quen Shield

You mastery of quen exceeds even that of the griffin school.  Your quen shield now imposes disadvantage on attack rolls against you. 

Rend

You may forgo one of your attacks this turn to increase your critical hit chance by 2 for you remaining attack(s) this turn.  If an attack scores a critical hit on an enemy this turn after damage is applied for that attack they must roll a DC 15 CON save.  On a failed save the creature takes the previously applied damage again.

Superior Rend

Your rend now does triple critical damage to enemies that are not at full health.

Heavy Blows

Your strikes carry the weight of your strength and your quen magic.  While your quen shield is active add the bonus to your AC from your shield to your weapon attack and damage.
