Base Class: Barbarian
Barbarians following the Path of the Father know what it is like to experience intense feelings of love and rage at the antics of children. One does not have to be a literal parent to take on the role of "Dad", as inexperienced companions often need to be directed or corralled when things get out of hand. Barbarians of this path draw the power of their rage from a number of emotional sources fueled by the feelings generated by thinking of their loved ones.
Emotional Outburst
Swell with Pride: If you enter your rage after an ally has succeed on an ability check, saving throw, slain an enemy, or scored a critical hit on an attack roll, you swell with pride at their accomplishment and have advantage on ability checks, attack rolls, and saving throws until the end of your next turn.
Not Mad, Just Disappointed: If you enter your rage after an ally has failed on an ability check, attack roll, or saving throw, you cannot hide your disappointment. Until the end of your next turn, any allies within 10ft of you add your proficiency bonus to any ability check, attack roll, or saving throw as you encourage them to do better next time.
Parental Protection
Beginning at 6th level, you can use your reaction to throw yourself into harm's way to protect your ally.
If a successful attack roll would hit your ally within 10 ft of you, you can spend your reaction to move up to 10 ft to shove your ally 5ft away and take the damage instead of them.
If an ally within 10 ft of you is targeted by an area of effect ability or spell and fails the associated saving throw, you can use your reaction to move up to 10 ft, cover their body and take the damage in place of your ally.
Parental Instinct
Beginning at 10th level, you have learned to trust your parental instinct, which manifests in a number of ways.
You can no longer be surprised unless you are incapacitated.
You gain proficiency (or double your proficiency if already proficient in one of the following skills: Investigation, Insight, or Perception.
You cannot be magically compelled to harm an ally.
I'm Here For You
Starting at 14th level, when an ally is reduced to 0 HP or otherwise rendered unconscious or incapacitated, you can use your reaction to enter your rage (if you were not already raging) and take the Dash action to close the distance between you and your ally.
While standing within 5 ft of an unconscious or incapacitated ally, you impose disadvantage to attack rolls made against that ally; and your rage persists until you choose to drop it or you are rendered unconscious or dead.
