Base Class: Warlock
Beneath the verdant forests of the natural world grow immense networks of roots, vital to the continued survival of the world above. Through the pact you’ve sworn, you’ve become as one with these vast, life-giving webs; you’ve become an eldritch proxy of nature, operating on behalf of your patron to nurture it, defend it, and sacrifice yourself for it. Now, you can manipulate parts of nature in accordance to your will, and sprout gnarled roots and verdant vines from your flesh to wield as both tools and weapons.
As a warlock of the Verdant Web, consider what or who your patron is, and how that affects the aesthetics of this subclass. A warlock sworn to an elder dryad may wield thick and robust roots, while a warlock of the reviled Mother of Thorns may painfully sprout thorny, blood-covered ones.
Expanded Spell List
The Verdant Web lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.

Natural Knowledge
Beginning at 1st level, your patron grants you a deeper understanding of nature. You gain proficiency in the Intelligence (Nature) skill. Your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make that uses this proficiency. In addition, you learn one cantrip of your choice from the druid spell list. This cantrip counts as a warlock spell for you, and does not count against your maximum number of cantrips known.
Eldritch Vines
Also at 1st level, you can call forth verdant vines to serve as extensions of your own body. As a bonus action, you can extrude (or retract) a thin yet strong vine from your body. You can have a number of vines extruded at a time equal to your proficiency bonus. The vine is 10 feet long and can be used to perform simple tasks with a reach equal to the vine’s length, but cannot hold weapons, manipulate tools, or carry more than 10 pounds. The vines share your [Tooltip Not Found], and have a number of hit points equal to your warlock level.
Whenever you take the Attack action while you have at least one vine extruded, you can choose to make an attack with a vine. This attack uses your Charisma modifier for its attack- and damage rolls. On a hit, the vine deals 1d8 bludgeoning damage to the target. This bludgeoning damage is magical.
Grasping Growth
At 6th level, the Eldritch Vines you call forth grow stronger, as does your skill in using them. The length of your vines increases to 15 feet. While you have at least one vine extruded, you can use your bonus action to attempt to grapple a creature within range. When you do so, you roll the Athletics check using your Charisma modifier instead of your Strength modifier. Finally, while you have two or more vines extruded, you gain a climbing speed equal to your movement speed, and can climb on difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, while leaving your hands free and without needing to make an ability check. However, your vines must be able to reach the surfaces you wish to climb.
Gluttonous Tendrils
At 10th level, your Eldritch Vines can feed on the lifeforce of others, strengthening you in the process. At the beginning of each of your turns, creatures grappled by your vines take necrotic damage equal to your Charisma modifier, and you gain a number of temporary hit points equal to the total necrotic damage dealt to all grappled creatures.
Heart of the Forest
At 14th level, you can call upon the full verdant might of your patron. As an action, you can grant yourself the following benefits for the next minute, or until you fall unconscious:
- You immediately extrude the maximum number of vines.
- The length of your vines temporarily increases to 30 feet.
- When you take the Attack action, you can make one attack with each vine as part of it. You can replace any of these attacks with an attempt to grapple a creature as per your Grasping Growth feature.
You can use this feature once per short- or long rest.
