Base Class: Bard
The College of the Harlequin is a bardic tradition that draws heavily from the folklore of the various spectral throngs that chase down lost souls across the night sky. These bards are known for their ability to shift between lighthearted mirth and deadly serious performances, using their talents to confuse, charm, and mystify their foes while delivering devastating blows of emotional manipulation and trickery. They are often found at the intersections of light and dark, joy and sorrow, mocking power with a playful spirit, but never hesitating to deliver a lethal jab when necessary. Whether they serve as agents of chaos or as enigmatic protectors of ancient rites, the Harlequins are masters of masks—both figurative and literal.
Level 3: Harlequin's Trickery
You gain proficiency in performance and proficiency in the Disguise Kit.
"Every jester knows the trick. Convince the world that you're the fool and not them."
Level 3: The Masks of Joy and Sorrow
You are a trickster when it comes to the masks you wear. One day, you might wear the rubber face of joy, gaining proficiency in Performance. The next, you might wear the clay face of sorrow, gaining a proficiency in Deception.
"To laugh is to mock the world's grief; to weep is to forget the joy it brings."
Level 6: Whimsical Evasion
When a creature lands a hit, use your reaction to halve the damage. This can be done three times per short rest.
"To laugh in the face of danger is to leave the world befuddled at where you truly stand."
Level 14: Fool's Reversal
Once per short rest, swap places with a creature within 30 ft of you as an action. This does not provoke opportunity attacks.
"When one wears many faces, you never know which one is real."
