Base Class: Rogue
Reapers are wholly unlike your typical conniving, duplicitous rogue. Carrying themselves with a cold, unearthly grace, these individuals are sworn into the servitude of deities of death. Tasked with seeking out those who defy life’s natural course and extend their lifespan through unnatural means in spite of what fate intends, Reapers bring a swift end to their targets with extreme prejudice.
Necrotic Scythe
When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you’ve been gifted a grim weapon by the deity you serve. As a bonus action, you can summon (or dismiss) a scythe wrought from deathly energy, known as your Necrotic Scythe. The scythe counts as a martial weapon with the reach and two-handed properties, and uses your Dexterity modifier for its attack and damage rolls. On a hit, it deals 1d8 necrotic damage. You cannot be disarmed of the scythe and if you drop it, it disappears.
Frightful Strike
At 3rd level, your presence strikes mortal fear into the hearts of foes. When you deal Sneak Attack damage to a creature, you can force it to make a Wisdom saving throw against a DC of 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Dexterity modifier. On a failed save, the target becomes frightened of you until the beginning of your next turn. On a successful save, the target isn’t frightened but gains disadvantage on its next attack roll.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
Wailing Exchange
Also at 3rd level, you can interrogate the spirits of slain foes. When you reduce a creature to 0 hit points with your Necrotic Scythe, you can choose to temporarily entrap the creature’s soul within it. You can only have one soul trapped in this way at a time. For the next hour, you can cast the speak with dead spell on the trapped soul, without requiring a material component. When cast in this way, the spell ignores the requirement for the target to be a corpse with a mouth, and the soul is compelled to tell the truth, even if it regards you as an enemy.
Mortal Cleave
At 9th level, your deathly strikes can cleave the souls of multiple foes at a time. When you hit a creature with your Necrotic Scythe and could apply your Sneak Attack to the attack, you can instead choose to delay the damage and use your bonus action to make an additional attack against a different creature within range using your Necrotic Scythe. On a hit, you can divide your Sneak Attack damage dice as you like between the two targets. If the second attack misses, you can still apply your Sneak Attack to the first target.
Shrouded Step
At 13th level, you can fade away in a shroud of shadow to avoid danger. When you use your Uncanny Dodge feature, you can also choose to teleport to an unoccupied space you can see within 60 feet of you.
Soul Harvest
At 17th level, you’ve become a true arbiter of death. Once per long rest when you would deal Sneak Attack damage to one or more creatures, you can choose to deal the maximum damage possible instead of rolling. If this damage reduces a creature to 0 hit points, it is instantly killed and you regain use of this feature.
