Monk
Base Class: Monk

Visual Description of the Fighting Style

  • Sensual Grace: The fighting style of the Whispering Courtesan is an entrancing dance of fluid motions and seductive gestures. Each movement is executed with the grace and precision of a dancer, designed to mesmerize and enchant.
  • Intimate Combat: Their combat style is intimate and close-quarters, with strikes and techniques that often involve close contact, whispers, and caresses. Every attack and defense is performed with a sensual flair, blurring the lines between combat and seduction.
  • Hypnotic Movements: Their strikes are hypnotic, weaving in and out of their opponent's defenses with an almost supernatural ease. They employ spins, twirls, and elegant acrobatics that leave their foes spellbound and off-balance.
  • Hedonistic Seduction: The monks use whispered words and secretive glances to distract and charm their opponents. Their fighting style often involves deceptive feints and unexpected shifts in direction, leaving their enemies constantly guessing. They embrace the pleasure of the moment, seeing combat as an extension of their hedonistic pursuits.

Level 11: Siren's Strike

When you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can spend 3 ki points to force the target to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier) or be paralyzed for the duration. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.

Level 17: Mesmerizing Dance

As an action, you can spend 4 ki points to perform a mesmerizing dance.

All creatures of your choice within 30 feet must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier). On a failed save, creatures are charmed by you and incapacitated for 1 minute. You must maintain concentration on this effect as if concentrating on a spell. Creatures can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of their turns to end the effect.

Erogenous Zones

At third level a Whispering Courtesan need not strike with brute force — they place their hands on an opponent as if caressing a lover, only for pain, illusion, or enchantment to follow a heartbeat later. Their touch carries a supernatural weight, disrupting perception, consciousness, and willpower.

When you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you may choose to forgo damage and instead inflict a magical pressure point attack, forcing them to make a Wisdom or Constitution saving throw (your choice, DC = 8 + Proficiency + Wisdom or Charisma).

On a failure, choose one of the following effects:

  • Silken Agony (Psychic Damage) -- A warm, almost euphoric sensation spreads through their body, only for it to turn into a sharp, burning ache. They take psychic damage equal to twice your Martial Arts die and suffer disadvantage on their next attack roll.
  • Veil of Whispers (Blur) – The enemy’s vision distorts. They see multiple versions of you flickering in and out of focus, granting you the effects of the Blur spell until the end of your next turn.
  • The Lotus Bloom (Stun) – The enemy’s body betrays them, their limbs locking up as they are stunned until the end of your next turn. (Usable once per short rest)
  • The Lover’s Hold (Hold Person) – Your touch roots them in place, their mind clouded by your presence. They are affected as if by Hold Person until the end of your next turn. (Usable once per short rest.)
  • The Mirror’s Kiss (Mirror Image) – Your strike fractures reality for a moment, causing illusory duplicates of yourself to appear around you. You gain the effects of the Mirror Image spell until the start of your next turn.
  • The Crimson Crown (Crown of Madness) – Your fingers trace a line along the enemy’s brow, and suddenly, their mind is not their own. They are affected by Crown of Madness until the end of their next turn. (Usable once per short rest.)

Silken Gown Stance

At third level the Whispering Courtesan moves like silk caught in the breeze, never resisting force directly but flowing with it. Their movements are too unpredictable, too smooth, making it impossible to lock them down.

  • Disadvantage on Attacks of Opportunity – Your fluid movement makes it difficult for enemies to react in time. Whenever you move out of an enemy’s reach, they have disadvantage on opportunity attacks against you.
  • Effortless Escape – When an enemy grapples you or restrains you, you may use your reaction to immediately attempt to escape with advantage. If you succeed, you may move up to half your movement speed without provoking opportunity attacks.

The Courtesan's Rejection

At third level, enemies who try to strike you always overextend, falling into your waiting grasp. Instead of blocking, you use their own force against them—a sudden step, a guiding hand, a shifting of weight—sending them crashing to the ground or straight into your next attack.

When an enemy misses you with a melee attack, you may use your reaction to perform one of the following counterattacks:

  • Entangling Embrace – You redirect their momentum, initiating a grapple (without requiring a free hand).
  • Twisting Viper Throw – You redirect their strike, throwing them 5 feet in any direction and knocking them prone (Dex saving throw, DC = 8 + Proficiency + Wisdom or Charisma).
  • Poised Retaliation – You immediately strike back, making an unarmed attack.

Graceful Movements

At third level you gain proficiency in the Performance and Persuasion skills. If you are already proficient, your proficiency bonus is doubled for those checks.

Insightful Observer

At third level when you spend at least 1 minute observing or interacting with another creature outside combat, you can learn certain information about their capabilities and background. The DM tells you two of the following characteristics of your choice about the creature, with the most relevant given the situation:

  • Current emotional state
  • Physical condition (such as injuries or illnesses)
  • Any significant events in their past that affect their current behavior
  • Social status and relationships

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

The Seven Point Touch

At 6th level the Whispering Courtesan builds on their knowledge of anatomy. By striking precise pressure points, you can induce extreme mental and physical reactions—some overwhelming the enemy’s senses, others unlocking hidden strength in an ally.

  • Edging (Fear): Your strike disrupts the enemy’s breath and heightens their sense of panic. On a failed Wisdom saving throw, the target is Frightened of you for 1 minute. They may repeat the saving throw at the end of each of their turns to end the effect. While frightened this way, they must move at least 10 feet away from you if possible.
  • The Courtesan's Mark: Your strike leaves behind a slow-burning agony, disrupting the target’s nervous system. On a failed Constitution saving throw, the target takes damage equal to your Martial Arts die at the start of each of their turns for 1 minute. The effect does not stack, and the target may attempt a new saving throw at the end of each of their turns to end the pain early.
  • Yuexia's Gasp: A delicate tap to the solar plexus or throat disrupts the target’s breathing, forcing their body into an instinctual recovery response. On a failed Constitution saving throw, the target cannot take actions, bonus actions, or reactions until the end of their next turn, as they struggle to regain their breath. They may still move, but at half speed.

Instead of causing harm, the Whispering Courtesan can unlock hidden reserves of others through precise, controlled strikes.

You can channel Ki into your pressure point strikes to grant magical, fleeting enhancements to your allies. As an action, you may spend 1 Ki Point to touch a willing creature (including yourself) and grant one of the following effects. These effects last for 1 minute, unless stated otherwise. You may use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.

  • The Scarlet Thread (Guidance of the Courtesan): The target may roll a Martial Arts die (1d6) and add the result to one attack roll, ability check, or saving throw made in the next minute.
  • The Tranquil Lotus (Mental Clarity – End Charm/Fear/Confusion): With a gentle press against the temples, you realign the body’s energy and purge unwanted influences. The target immediately ends one condition affecting them (Charmed, Frightened, or Confused).
  • The Second Wind (Regeneration – Healing Over Time): A series of precise taps along the spine awakens the body’s latent restorative potential. The target regains hit points equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum 1) at the start of each of their turns for 1 minute. The effect ends early if the target is knocked unconscious or reduced to 0 HP.

Suggestive Gaze

At level 6 you can spend 1 ki points to cast Suggestion (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier).

Very Insightful Observer

At level 6, in addition to everything you can learn from Insightful Observer, you can ascertain additional details as well.

  • Damage resistances or vulnerabilities
  • Weak points in their armor or defenses (granting advantage on your first attack roll against them)

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
