Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Barbarians who follow the path of the Moonbound have either dedicated themselves to or become possessed by (player choice) a monstrous beast such as a werewolf or lycanthropic God of some kind. These Barbarians gain the ability to transform their bodies, taking on traits of the aforementioned being when they enter their rage.

Beastly Rage

At 3rd level, when you enter your rage you transform into a unique form: your Beastly Form. You become one size larger while in this form, but retain your normal character statistics and senses. Your Beastly Form's AC is equal to 13 + your Dexterity modifier (maximum 2) and has a walking speed and climbing speed of 30 feet. In addition, when you take this form, you gain temporary hit points equal to twice your Barbarian Level.

You remain in this form for as long as you are Raging. You can revert to your normal form earlier by using a bonus action on your turn to end your Rage. You automatically revert if you fall unconscious, drop to 0 hit points, die, do not deal or receive damage, do not force an enemy to make a saving throw, or do not use a bonus action to extend your Rage.

On the night of the full moon, you can remain in this form from Moonrise to Sunrise

While in this form, you gain a different set of actions you can use on each of your turns:

Bite. When you take the Attack action, you can use your dagger-like teeth to make an unarmed strike. If you hit with it, you deal piercing damage equal to 1d12 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.

Beastly Growl. You can use an action to let out a Beastly Growl. Each creature within 15 feet of you must make a Wisdom Saving Throw or become frightened of you until the end of your next turn. DC: 8+STR Mod+PB

Your Beastly Growl improves at certain levels. At 6th level, your growl extends to a 20 feet. At 10th level, it extends to 25 feet, and at 14th level it extends to 30 feet.

Improved Beastly Rage

By 6th level, your control over your Beastly Form has improved, granting you the following benefits while in that form:

    • Your AC is equal to 14 + your Dexterity modifier (maximum 2), when in your Beastly Form.
    • You gain a new way to attack:

Claws. Your razor-sharp claws are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal slashing damage equal to 2d6 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.

  • When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can make one attack with your bite and one Bonus Action attack with your claws. Your attacks count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.
  • You have darkvision out to a range of 60 feet. If you already have darkvision from your species, its range increases by 30 feet.

Alpha Instinct

Starting at 10th level, you’re able to harness the Ambush Predator nature of your Beastly Form even when you aren't raging. You gain advantage on Stealth checks.

In addition, your Beastly Form's hide continues to toughen. You gain the following benefits while in your Beastly Form:

  • Your AC is equal to 15 + your Dexterity modifier (maximum 2) when in your Beastly Form.
  • You gain the ability to control beasts you meet in combat. Once per day, when you use your Beastly Growl, you may choose to force any beasts who fail the saving throw to do your bidding, as they give in to the Alpha nature of your Beastly Form. Beasts who fail this save in this way will effectively be under the effect of Dominate Beast

Heart of a Beast

At 14th level, you can use your Beastly Growl even while you’re not in your Beastly Form. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.

In addition, you gain the following benefits while in your Beastly Form:

  • Your AC is equal to 16 + your Dexterity modifier (maximum 2), while in your Beastly Form.
  • Your climbing speed increases to 40 ft.
  • When you take the Attack action on your turn, and you make a Bite Attack, you can use a Bonus Action to make two Claw Attacks.

Finally, when you take on your Beastly Form, you can choose to become two sizes larger than your normal size. If you do, your bite has a reach of 10 feet, instead of 5.
