Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

Rangers who follow the path of the Sharpshooter master the use of slow-loading, high-caliber weapons such as muskets and rifled firearms. While others rely on speed and rapid fire, you take your time, lining up precise shots that can cripple or kill in an instant.

These rangers are patient, methodical hunters. Whether serving as military marksmen, bounty hunters, or lone frontiersmen, a Sharpshooter knows that a well-placed bullet is worth a dozen poorly aimed shots.

Level 3: High-Caliber Marksman

You specialize in the use of high-powered firearms, designed for range and stopping power.

  • Firearm Proficiency: You gain proficiency with muskets, rifles, and other firearms your DM allows.
  • Steady Aim: If you do not move on your turn, you gain advantage on your next firearm attack before the start of your next turn.
  • Armor-Piercing Shot: When you hit a creature with a firearm attack, you can ignore up to 3 points of Armor Class if the target is wearing metal armor or has natural armor.

Level 7: Deadeye Focus

ou have honed your ability to take precise, deadly shots at extreme distances.

  • Long-Range Accuracy: Attacks with firearms no longer have disadvantage when shooting at long range.
  • Crippling Shot: When you hit a creature with a firearm attack, you can force it to make a Strength or Dexterity saving throw (DC = 8 + proficiency + Dexterity modifier). On a failure, the target is either knocked prone (Strength) or has its movement speed halved (Dexterity) until the end of its next turn.

Stopping Power

Your high-caliber shots hit with devastating force.

  • Critical Knockback: When you score a critical hit with a firearm, the target is pushed 10 feet back and knocked prone.
  • Overpenetration: If you kill a creature with a firearm attack, the bullet continues through it, potentially hitting another creature in line. The second creature takes damage equal to your Dexterity modifier.

One Shot, One Kill

Your skill with high-caliber firearms reaches its peak, allowing you to turn any fight into a deadly encounter.

  • Lethal Precision: Once per turn, when you make a ranged attack roll with a firearm and hit, you can choose to deal extra damage equal to half the target's missing hit points (once per short or long rest).
  • Death’s Shadow: When attacking a creature that is unaware of your presence, your first attack against them is an automatic critical hit if it lands.
