Base Class: Bard
The College of Notes is, in fact, no college at all, but the teachings of merely one bard: Cynara the Attuned. The college of sound revolves entirely around the concept of sound-casting, a method of spell casting where one replicates magical spells outside of mere words and actions, but instead utilizes noise, copies the sound of spells and uses it to trigger them, whether that be with an instrument, or one's own voice.
Its origins is a story told to a lone thief nought but a hundreds years prior: " We like to think of magic as merely our own knowledge of it, the alignment of runes during a ritual, words of ancient folk slipping for out lips, the shape out hands make when we motion it into reality, but could that truly be all? Magic is fluid, just as imperceptible as a concept such as time or order, it does not obey our rules, nor the rules we associate with it. Magic is alive, magic is both a shape, a word, a movement, a smell, but most importantly dear Silvia, a sound. With sound as our medium, we too, can become magical, even if those rules say otherwise, "
However, with its original user long passed, and their successor adapting her methods, things have changed, and the use of its powers have shifted. The lone thief, having been beaten by two foes they should have been able to supersede, found herself at an impasse, unable to make use of the attuned one's teachings, unable to connect with nature and magic as she had, stating, " If we ever meet again, I shall beg for your forgiveness, but until then, I will do what is needed, "
The Mark of The Attuned
At the 3rd level, and as a result of your training, you can now passively sense the magic signatures of those you know well.
You see the magic signatures of those within your vicinity, and thus can decipher their location, state, well being and such with ease.
As a result, you have advantage on checks that revolve around awareness like perception and insight.
Mimicry's Origin
At the 3rd level, you can expend one of your bardic inspiration die in the form of a reaction in order to uncover the magic signature of an opponent's attack. The spell will be stored with the die until you choose to cast it, and the die cannot be regenerated until it is cast and a long rest is taken. You can only copy spells equal to or below your proficiency bonus.
If you have a willing ally, you may use your reaction in order to mimic a spell they cast instead, which does not require a save from either side.
One For Another
At the 3rd level, you have learnt to magically sap away an opponents strength, sacrificing your own for theirs. By sacrificing two of your bardic inspiration die, you can steal a spell slot from an opponent. The opponent must choose what is taken, and if a certain level spell slot is not available, they must select something else. If the opponent does not have any available spell slots, the dice are still lost, and nothing is taken. Lastly, you can only steal spell-slots for levels that you have available to you.
At the 10th level, you have refined your technique, and can select which spell slot is taken, though if a mistake is made and the opponent does not have it, the action fails and the dice are lost.
Level 5: Guns and Roses
At the 5th level, your skills in recognizing and copying magic signatures has increased exponentially, to the point where you can completely copy your own magic signature and use it form a mimic, which can only be done once before needing to take a long rest. Summoning the mimic requires a bonus action.
The mimic's stature and clothing is completely identical to the original, with the only exception being that its entire form is covered in an coat of translucent amethyst, making it obvious to any opponent or ally that it is not the original.
The mimic stats are for all intents and purposes equal to that of the original, barring its health and AC, which are equal to 10 + the ability score modifier.
Every spell casted by it uses the original's spell slots, unless the spell is a cantrip and doesn't require one. It takes its own initiative score and has its own turns. The mimic can only perform actions or magic action and is not capable of either bonus actions or reactions as it is not sentient.
One Makes Two
At the 14th level, you have mastered the art of copying magic signatures, and as a result, you are now capable of using your sound-casting abilities to learn spells like a wizard. In order to do so, the spell must be used against you and hit, or, if its a non-attacked spell, it must be applied to you a number of times double that of its spell level. Secondarily, spell can only be learnt if you have the spell slots available for it.
