Base Class: Monk
While many monks channel supernatural ki to perform supernatural feats, practitioners of the Way of the Grandmaster believe that true mastery comes not from mysticism, but from absolute dedication to the art of combat itself.
Masterful Conditioning
You have honed your body to the peak of human capability. You gain the following benefits:
- Honed Reflexes: You can use your Dexterity modifier in place of your Wisdom modifier for your Armor Class and Ki Save DC (if applicable).
- Toughened Body: When you are not wearing armor or wielding a shield, you gain +1 AC. Additionally, you can add your Constitution modifier (minimum +1) to your Unarmed Strike damage rolls.
- Martial Supremacy: Your Unarmed Strikes count as martial weapons rather than simple weapons for interactions with feats, fighting styles, and other features.
Pressure Points & Counters
Your knowledge of anatomy allows you to disable foes with precise strikes. When you hit a creature with an Unarmed Strike, you can impose one of the following effects:
- Weakened Limbs: The target has disadvantage on its next weapon attack before the end of your next turn.
- Staggering Blow: The target must make a Constitution saving throw (DC = 8 + proficiency bonus + Dexterity modifier) or be stunned until the start of your next turn. You can use this a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus per long rest.
- Joint Lock: When a creature misses you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to attempt to grapple them (no free hand required). If you succeed, the target is also restrained until the end of your next turn.
Adaptable Combatant
Through rigorous training, you have mastered different fighting styles. At the end of a short or long rest, choose one of the following benefits, which lasts until your next rest:
- Iron Guard: You gain +1 AC and have advantage on saving throws against being grappled, knocked prone, or shoved.
- Unyielding Strength: You count as one size larger for grappling, shoving, and lifting purposes, and your Unarmed Strikes deal an additional 1d6 damage when you have advantage on the attack roll.
- Lightning Reflexes: You gain a +10 bonus to your movement speed, and when you use your Step of the Wind, you do not provoke opportunity attacks.
Ultimate Technique – Death Strike
When you hit a creature with an Unarmed Strike, you can force them to make a Constitution saving throw (DC = 8 + proficiency bonus + Dexterity or Strength modifier). On a failure, the target:
- Takes 10d10 force damage.
- Is stunned until the end of your next turn.
- If reduced to 50 HP or fewer after this damage, they are instantly knocked unconscious (or killed if they fail a death saving throw at the start of their next turn).
You can use this feature once per long rest.
