Base Class: Druid
Druids of the Circle of Shadows draw their power not from the sunlight and life of the surface world, but from the deep, lightless realms of the Underdark. They thrive in the darkness, using the shadows to cloak themselves and manipulate the battlefield. These druids are experts at harnessing the cold, silent power of the underworld, weaving the dim light and gloom into a powerful defense and offense. They are masters of stealth and subterfuge, lurking in the darkness and emerging only when the time is right to strike.
Druids of this circle guard the hidden places of the world, ensuring the balance between light and dark is maintained. Their ability to meld into the shadows and summon shadowy guardians makes them formidable protectors of the Underdark’s secrets.
Cloak of Shadows
2nd-level Circle of Shadows feature
As a Circle of Shadows Druid, you can enter a shadowy state: The Cloak of Shadows. As an action, you can expend a use of your Wild Shape feature to shroud yourself in shadows, rather than transforming into a beast form, and you gain 4 temporary hit points for each level you have in this class. While this feature is active, you gain the following benefits:
Night’s Sight: You have darkvision out to a range of 120 feet. In that radius, you can see in dim light as if it were bright light and in darkness as if it were dim light.
Incorporeal Movement: You can pass through small gaps and openings effortlessly, allowing you to move through spaces as narrow as 1 inch wide without squeezing. Additionally, you can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. If you end your turn inside an object, you take 1d10 force damage and are moved to the nearest unoccupied space.
Dimmed Veil: A shroud of shadows cloaks the area around you, subtly blending you into the darkness. The space you occupy becomes dimly lit. This veil lightly obscures your form, making you harder to detect.
Shadow Step: You gain the ability to step from one shadow into another. When you are in dim light or darkness, as a bonus action you can teleport up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space you can see that is also in dim light or darkness.
These benefits last for 10 minutes, until you lose all these temporary hit points, or until you use your Wild Shape again.
