Bard
Base Class: Bard

The goal of his subclass is to offer a mid ranged option for Bard, that revolves around their Piece or pistol. Like College of Swords, giving the player some additional options to affect combat. Since Bard is a full caster, the abilities are meant to be situational and helpful in a pinch.

Be creative in the creation of your Piece, as it can give flavor and substance to your bard. Each Piece is crafted for the students who graduate through the college individually.

Additionally the Piece does 1d10 Piercing damage, and has the reload trait like a Crossbow. The range is 30/60.

For DM's let the tinkering tools allow for customization and additions to the Piece, for example +1 or making it do additional elemental damaage.

Bonus Profiecinces

  • When you join the College of Piece you gain proficiency with Pistols, and tinkering tools. The College also rewards you with a "Piece" or pistol.
  • To create ammo the Bard must spend a long rest to expend 5 gold worth of materials for 20 bullets.
  • Additionally the Piece can be used as a focus for casting spells.

Fighting Style

At 3rd level, you adopt a particular style of fighting as your specialty. Choose one of the following options. You can't take a Fighting Style option more than once, even if you later get to choose again.

  • Dueling. When you are wielding a melee weapon in one hand and no other weapons, you gain a +2 bonus to damage rolls with that weapon.

  • Marksman. You gain a +2 bonus to attack rolls you make with ranged weapons.

Inspired Shots

At 3rd level you learn to use your Piece in additional ways through your Bardic Inspiration.

  • Ricochet. When attacking a target you can add a Bardic Inspiration to deal that dice damage to the target and a different target within 10 ft.

  • Barrel Roll. As an action the Bard can roll 10 ft away from the target without provoking an attack of opportunity. During the roll they expend a Bardic Inspiration to attack the target dealing additional damage equal to the roll.

  • Disarming Shot. When using Bardic Inspiration you can attempt to disarm a weapon or item from a target's hand. They must succeed on a STR save or the object drops from their hand.

Extra Attack

At 6th level, you can attack twice instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn. Additionally, you also ignore the reloading feature on the Piece.

Masterfully Inspired

Starting at 14th level, whenever you use an Inspired Shot option, you can roll a d6 instead of expending a Bardic Inspiration die.
