Base Class: Rogue
The Gambler is a risk-taker who wields fate like a finely sharpened blade. Where other rogues rely solely on skill and stealth, the Gambler trusts in luck—often betting everything on a roll of the dice. Whether hustling in back-alley games or outmaneuvering foes on the battlefield, the Gambler turns chance into an art form.
Loaded Dice
3rd-level Gambler Feature
When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you learn to “wager” your fate on critical moments. Before making an attack roll or ability check, you can “load the dice.” Roll a d6. If the number is 4 or higher, you can add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll or ability check. If the number is 3 or lower, you can subtract your proficiency bonus to the attack roll or ability check. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses after a long rest. Additionally, you gain proficiency with a gaming set of your choice.
Double or Nothing
9th-level Gambler Feature
When you use Sneak Attack, you can choose to “gamble” your extra damage. Before rolling your Sneak Attack dice but after rolling an attack roll, you can roll a d6. If the number is 4 or higher, you roll double the number of Sneak Attack dice. If the number is 3 or lower, you roll halve the Sneak Attack dice (rounded down). You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses after a long rest.
Gambler's Reflex
13th-level Gambler Feature
By 13th level, your instincts in both combat and life’s gambles have honed your reflexes to near-superhuman levels. When an attack roll is made against you, you can use your reaction to force the attacker to reroll. If the new roll is lower than the original, the attack automatically misses you, regardless of modifiers. This can't be used when the attacker rolls a natural 20 on the dice. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses after a long rest.
The Jackpot
17th-level Gambler Feature
Once per long rest, you can take an action to invoke The Jackpot to gain the following benefits:
- When you roll your d6 for your Loaded Dice feature, a favorable outcome (4–6) adds double your proficiency to your attack roll or ability check.
- When you roll your d6 for your Loaded Dice feature, An unfavorable outcome (1–3) subtracts double your proficiency.
- During this minute you gain advantage on all attack rolls and saving throws.
Once the effect ends, you incur one level of exhaustion as the strain of bending fate takes its toll. To use this feature again, you must finish a long rest.
