Base Class: Barbarian
The world before the bombs fell was soft, filled with luxuries and comforts that no longer exist. The wasteland has no mercy for the weak, and those who thrive in its unforgiving ruins must embrace savagery, strength, and the will to survive at any cost. Some warriors do more than just endure—they revel in the chaos, becoming living hurricanes of violence. These are the Wasteland Berserkers, battle-hardened raiders and warlords who push their bodies beyond natural limits through sheer brutality and the reckless use of combat drugs.
Most Berserkers are fueled by Jet, a powerful chem that heightens reflexes, distorts time, and floods their system with adrenaline. To these warriors, Jet is not just a drug—it’s a tool of war, a key to unlocking their deadliest potential. When the red mist descends, they move faster, strike harder, and shrug off wounds that would kill lesser fighters. But such power comes at a cost. A Berserker’s body is constantly teetering on the edge of collapse, the high of battle always threatening to turn into a lethal crash.
Many see Wasteland Berserkers as little more than crazed raiders, but those who survive long enough become legends—tyrants of the irradiated wilds, unkillable warlords ruling over gangs of cutthroats. Whether they fight for power, survival, or sheer bloodlust, one thing is certain: when a Wasteland Berserker charges into battle, death follows close behind.
Jet-Fueled Rage
3rd-level Path of the Wasteland Berserker feature
When you enter a rage, you may choose to inhale a dose of Jet, heightening your reflexes and aggression. While raging under the effects of Jet, you gain the following benefits:
- Your movement speed increases by 15 feet.
- You have advantage on Dexterity saving throws.
- You may make one additional attack when you take the Attack action.
Wasteland Instincts
6th-level Path of the Wasteland Berserker feature
Survival in the wasteland isn’t just about strength—it’s about reflexes, awareness, and the ability to react faster than your enemies. A single misstep can mean death, whether from a sniper’s bullet, a deathclaw’s ambush, or a backstabbing raider looking to take your loot. Wasteland Berserkers, constantly riding the edge of adrenaline and withdrawal, develop a sixth sense for danger. Their battle-worn instincts allow them to move with unnatural speed, making them some of the deadliest fighters in the ruins of civilization.
With every fight, a Berserker hones their ability to act before thought—diving for cover before a bullet lands, ducking an incoming sledgehammer a fraction of a second before impact, or charging an enemy before they can draw their weapon. Fueled by Jet and hardened by the wasteland, these warriors exist in a heightened state of awareness, always scanning for the next threat, always prepared to strike first.
At this level, your connection to battle sharpens to a razor’s edge. You can burst into action at a moment’s notice, moving with the feral agility of a cornered animal. The effects of Jet no longer just fuel your rage—they become an extension of your survival instincts, allowing you to outmaneuver and outlast your foes. With each inhalation of the chem, time seems to slow, and you can read your enemies’ movements before they happen.
Because of this heightened awareness and chemically enhanced speed, you:
- Can take the Dash action as a bonus action while raging, allowing you to close the gap between you and your prey almost instantly.
- Can never be surprised while conscious—your senses are too sharp, and your body is always coiled like a spring, ready to react at the first sign of trouble.
- When rolling initiative, you may immediately inhale Jet (without using an action) to activate your Jet-Fueled Rage, ensuring that you enter the fight at full power before anyone else has a chance to react.
A Wasteland Berserker doesn’t just survive fights—they start them, end them, and leave no one standing in their wake. This feature ensures that you always have the upper hand, striking first and striking hard before your enemies can even understand what hit them.
Overdose Frenzy
10th-level Path of the Wasteland Berserker feature
There comes a point when rage and adrenaline alone aren’t enough. When the enemy is too strong, the odds too overwhelming, a true Wasteland Berserker does the only thing they know how to do—push past their limits. They rip open a fresh inhaler of Jet, take a massive hit, and let the chem consume them completely. This is no ordinary rage. This is a battle frenzy fueled by an overdose of pure, unfiltered aggression, turning the Berserker into an unstoppable, bloodthirsty force of destruction.
An Overdose Frenzy isn’t just a burst of power—it’s a self-inflicted, chemically induced rampage where the Berserker’s body is pushed beyond human endurance. Their heart pounds like a drum, their muscles burn with radioactive energy, and their reflexes sharpen to the point where time itself seems to slow. The pain of wounds becomes distant, drowned out by the overwhelming euphoria of the fight. The Berserker moves through the battlefield like a whirlwind of death, tearing through armor, muscle, and bone with terrifying ease.
However, such raw power comes at a terrible cost. The human body isn’t meant to sustain this level of exertion. The more a Berserker leans into their drug-fueled carnage, the closer they dance with death. Overuse of Jet can push them beyond their breaking point, leaving them gasping for air, muscles shaking, and nerves fried once the high fades. Yet for some, that price is worth it. After all, what’s the point of survival if you aren’t the one standing on top of the corpses when the dust settles?
When you activate an Overdose Frenzy, you gain the following effects for the duration of your rage:
- Unstoppable Resilience: You gain resistance to all damage except psychic, allowing you to withstand even the most brutal assaults without slowing down.
- Relentless Strikes: You score a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20, making your already devastating attacks even deadlier.
- Armor-Shredding Power: Your melee weapon attacks ignore resistance to nonmagical damage, ensuring that even the toughest enemies fall before your might.
However, such reckless overuse of Jet takes a toll. The moment your rage ends, your body crashes violently, unable to sustain the heightened state any longer. You automatically suffer two levels of exhaustion, a brutal reminder that even the strongest warriors are still mortal. Because of the strain this places on your body, you cannot use Overdose Frenzy again until you complete a long rest.
Risk vs. Reward
Overdose Frenzy is the ultimate gamble—an all-or-nothing push to annihilate your enemies before they can take you down. It’s meant for those moments when survival isn’t enough—you need to dominate the battlefield, no matter the cost. Will you use it to tear through a mutant warlord, crush a gang of power-armored mercenaries, or stand your ground against a monstrous behemoth? Whatever the reason, one thing is certain: when a Wasteland Berserker goes into an Overdose Frenzy, the only thing left behind is devastation.
Tyrant of the Waste
14th-level Path of the Wasteland Berserker feature
By this point, you are no mere survivor, no nameless raider scraping by in the dust. You have become a force of nature, a legend whispered in fear around campfires, a name spoken in hushed tones by warbands who hope they never meet you in battle. The weak flee before you, the strong bow at your feet, and the wasteland itself seems to bend to your will. You are more than just a warrior—you are a warlord, a tyrant of the ruin-strewn world, the embodiment of brutality and survival.
Through sheer willpower, endless combat, and the ceaseless rush of Jet-fueled rampages, your body has adapted to the punishment it endures. Where lesser warriors would burn out, you push forward. Where others succumb to exhaustion, you force your body to keep going. You have become the ultimate survivor—not because you were lucky, but because you refused to die.
Mastering the Highs and Lows
At lower levels, a Wasteland Berserker fights like a cornered animal, throwing everything they have into battle with reckless abandon, knowing that every dose of Jet, every Overdose Frenzy, could be their last. But at this level, you have tamed the chaos. You are no longer just another junkie-warrior burning themselves out. You are a master of battle chems, knowing exactly how far you can push your body before pulling back.
When you enter a rage, you can now remove one level of exhaustion instead of gaining one. This means you can ride the highs of Jet and adrenaline without being crippled by withdrawal immediately after. While others falter from their own excess, you keep fighting, pushing forward where lesser warriors would collapse. You have learned to weaponize the rush of Jet without fully succumbing to its deadly side effects—though you always walk that razor’s edge.
Feeding Off the Carnage
By now, battle is your lifeblood, and as long as you keep fighting, you refuse to fall. The thrill of combat, the screams of your enemies, and the rush of a fresh kill fuel you in ways no drug ever could. Whenever you reduce a creature to 0 HP, you gain temporary hit points equal to your Constitution modifier + half your Barbarian level. Every time you drop an enemy, you get a second wind, laughing in the face of death as you carve a path through the battlefield. The more you kill, the harder you are to bring down.
This ability represents the terrifying presence of a true wasteland tyrant. You don’t just fight—you dominate, turning every kill into a surge of power. Enemies who see you fight realize too late that every fallen ally only makes you stronger, turning even the bloodiest battle into a one-sided massacre.
Defying Death Itself
By now, you have been shot, stabbed, burned, beaten, and broken more times than you can count. But you always get back up. No matter how many times death reaches for you, you spit in its face and keep fighting. You have become so attuned to the deadly rhythm of battle that even on the brink of oblivion, you can claw your way back from the void.
If you fail a death saving throw while raging, you can use your reaction to immediately inhale Jet, gaining the effects of Jet-Fueled Rage and stabilizing at 1 HP instead of dying. You refuse to go down without a fight, throwing yourself back into the fray with reckless abandon. This ability can only be used once per long rest, as even your chemically enhanced body can only cheat death so many times before it catches up to you.
Warlord of the Wastes
With Tyrant of the Waste, you are no longer just another fighter—you are an unkillable monster, a living legend, a warlord whose name will be remembered long after your bones are dust. You have learned to walk the fine line between power and destruction, riding the edge of death without tipping over. You don’t just survive in the wasteland—you thrive, conquering all who stand in your way.
Whether you lead a gang of bloodthirsty raiders, rule over a fortress of lawless killers, or roam the wasteland as a lone terror, one thing is certain—wherever you go, the world will remember your name. And if the wasteland itself ever tries to kill you? Well… let it try.
