Bard
Base Class: Bard

Bards of the College of the Mindbreaker are masters of psychological warfare, using their words and performances to fracture minds and warp reality. They understand that fear is the most powerful tool, capable of breaking even the strongest will. Through their whispers, illusions, and haunting melodies, they create an atmosphere of paranoia, implanting false memories, inducing terror, and sowing doubt in the hearts of their enemies. These bards do not simply perform—they orchestrate a descent into madness, weaving uncertainty into every interaction. Their presence alone can cause fear and confusion, while their spells and abilities leave lasting scars on the minds of those who dare oppose them.

Level 3: Fractured Perceptions

Your words slip into the cracks of the mind, warping a creature’s sense of reality. As an action, you can target a creature within 30 feet that can hear you. The target must make an Intelligence saving throw (DC 16). On a failed save, the target suffers one of the following effects of your choice for 1 minute:

  • Hallucinatory Panic: The target sees and hears nonexistent horrors, suffering disadvantage on all attack rolls and ability checks.

  • Unstable Identity: The target believes themselves to be someone or something else, making them unable to recognize allies or enemies correctly.

  • Memory Fracture: The target forgets the last 10 minutes and cannot form new memories until the effect ends.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier per long rest.

Level 6: Sowing Doubt

Your words corrupt certainty, replacing it with confusion and distrust. When you speak, you can plant subconscious paranoia in the minds of others. As an action, choose up to three creatures within 30 feet that can hear you. Each creature must make an Intelligence saving throw (DC 16). On a failed save, they experience one of the following effects for 10 minutes:

  • They become convinced an ally is a traitor.

  • They distrust their own memories and hesitate to act.

  • They believe they are being watched, suffering disadvantage on Wisdom (Perception) and Intelligence (Investigation) checks.

This effect ends early if the target takes damage. Once you use this feature, you must complete a long rest before using it again.

Level 3: Bonus Proficiencies

When you join the College of the Mindbreaker at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with the disguise kit and the following skills: Deception, Insight, or Persuasion.

Additionally, you automatically learn the following spells at their appropriate levels, which do not count against your number of known spells:

  • 3rd Level: Whispers of Madness, Dissonant Whispers

  • 6th Level: Delusory Torment, Mind Blank

  • 14th Level: Collapse of the Mind, Dominate Person

Level 14: Mindquake

Your voice is a weapon that shatters minds. As an action, you can unleash a psychic reverberation that distorts reality within a 30-foot radius for 1 minute. Each enemy in the area must make an Intelligence saving throw (DC 16). On a failed save, they are affected by one of the following:

  • Sanity Break: The target is frightened of you and takes 6d8 psychic damage.

  • Identity Collapse: The target is unable to recognize itself in reflections and sees everyone as a stranger, causing them to lose their ability to distinguish friend from foe.

  • Total Disassociation: The target experiences an out-of-body event, rendering them incapacitated until they succeed on another saving throw at the end of their turn.

Once you use this feature, you cannot do so again until you complete a long rest.
