Rogue
Base Class: Rogue

These rogues live a daring life, constantly tempting fate. Whether the wager is a sum of cash, or their own lives, a Gambler always takes a chance on good odds.

Level 3: Gambler's Know-How

In life's game, sometimes you win, and sometimes you need to improvise. When you take this subclass at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with improvised weapons, playing cards, and one more gaming set of your choice. When you make an ability check that uses one of these gaming sets you can add double your proficiency bonus to your roll. Finally, if you spend at least 1 minute observing or playing a game you aren't familiar with, you can add your proficiency bonus to any ability checks related to the game until the end of your next long rest. However, only one game or gaming set can benefit from this feature at a time.

Level 3: Lucky Dice

At 3rd level, when you make an attack roll, saving throw, or ability check, if the result of the roll is a 1, you can roll 2d6. If neither d6 shows a 1, you can reroll the d20 roll. You must take the new result, and cannot roll your lucky dice again if the new roll is a 1.

Each time you roll the lucky dice and fail to achieve a reroll, you gain a chip. You can have a maximum number of chips at one time equal to twice your proficiency bonus.

Any time a d20 roll is about to be made, before the dice is rolled you can announce you are betting on the die's outcome. You can bet on whether the result will be below or above 10, or odd or even, and put forth any number of chips.

When the result is revealed, roll on the table below based on whether your gamble paid off or not.

d8 Correct Gamble Incorrect Gamble
1 Roll a number of d4's equal to the number of chips you bet. You regain hit points equal to the total. If you were already at maximum HP, you instead gain temporary HP equal to twice the number of chips bet. Your maximum hit points are reduced by an amount equal to twice the number of chips you bet.
2 Add the number of chips you bet as bonus damage to your next successful sneak attack. The next time you make an attack roll, take a penalty equal to the number of chips you bet.
3 For a number of rounds equal to the number of chips you bet, you gain the effects of the Bless spell. For a number of rounds equal to the number of chips you bet, you are under the effects of the Bane spell.
4 Reduce the damage of the next attack which hits you by an amount equal to twice the number of chips bet. You take a penalty to AC against the next attack targeted at you equal to half the number chips bet (minimum -1 penalty).
5 Until you bet chips again, you gain a +1 bonus on all skill checks. Until you bet chips again, you gain a -1 penalty on all skill checks.
6 You gain a +5 bonus to your movement speed for every 2 chips you bet for the next minute. Your movement speed is halved for the next minute.
7 The next creature that takes damage from your Sneak Attack is frightened until the end of their next turn. The next attack you take deals an additional die of damage to you.
8 You can take an additional Action on your next turn. You are incapacitated during your next turn.

Level 9: Call Your Bluff

Starting at 9th level, you have advantage on all Wisdom (Insight) checks.

Level 9: Weighted Odds

Also at 9th level, your attacks have been blessed with an entertaining, yet strange luck. Your weapon attack rolls score a critical hit on a roll of 7 or 20 on the d20, but rolls of 13 or 1 on the d20 are both considered critical failures.

Level 13: Quickdraw

At 13th level, you gain a bonus to initiative rolls equal to the number of chips you currently have (maximum +5).

Level 13: Splashing Dice

Beginning at 13th level, you can now use your lucky dice feature as a reaction when an ally within 30 feet of you rolls a 1 on an attack roll, saving throw, or ability check. You roll the dice, and if neither shows a 1, your ally can reroll. You still gain chips if this ability does not result in a reroll.

Level 17: The House Always Wins

At 17th level, when you miss an attack roll against a creature, if your Sneak Attack would have applied if the attack had hit, the creature still takes half your Sneak Attack damage.
