Base Class: Warlock
Each shadow magic expert leaves behind a divine treasure in the form of a book, which holds their ideal path for others to follow. The Book of Eternal Night was created by The Raven Queen herself and contains her ideal path, with techniques she selected from multiple separate shadow paths.
Level 3: Spells
Warlock Level:
3: Darkness, Ray of Enfeeblement (2nd level spells)
6: Summon Undead, Fear (3rd level spells)
10: Hallucinatory Terrain, Blight (4th level spells)
14: Dream, Mislead (5th level spells)
17: Weird (9th level spell)
In addition, at 3rd level, you may prepare 2 cantrips and 2, 1st level spells into your book from the Warlock spell list.
Level 3: Bow of Shadows
Bow Proficiency. You gain proficiency with Longbows, Short bows, and Heavy Crossbows if you don't already have it. These weapons are considered Warlock weapons for you. You can spend 1 hour imbuing a bow of your choosing with the magic of shadows. That bow can now be used as a spellcasting focus for your warlock spells.
Level 3: Strings of Shadow
Shadow Control. You can now use your proficiency in shadows to create 1 web as a bonus action. These webs have 10 hp, ac of 10, vulnerability to radiant damage, and immunity to poison and psychic damage. Webs can be used in a few ways, and each of the web's abilities take a subsequent bonus action. You can create as many webs as your charisma modifier (minimum of 1) every short or long rest. Webs cannot deal damage.
Stick: You can command your Stings of Shadow to stick to something within 30ft. On a subsequent bonus action, you can command your strings to pull you to where they are stuck. Once you are within 5 feet of where your strings are stuck, others cannot forcibly move you farther than 5 feet away from the strings. Once the strings are stuck, they last for 5 rounds or until they are destroyed before dissipating.
Hinder. You can command your strings to hinder someone's movement. Choose one creature within 30ft of you. That creature must make a strength saving throw against your spell save dc. On a failure, that creature's speed is reduced to 0 until the end of their next turn. On a save, the creature breaks the webs and their speed isn't hindered.
Create (Prerequisite. Level 6). You can create mundane items out of your strings. You can create an object no larger than 10 ft by 10ft and has a cost of 50gp or less. The object is solid but is clearly made out of shadows. Unless you dismiss it as a free action, the object lasts for up to 10 minutes before disappearing.
Level 6: Dark Tide Incantation
Dark Crafting. You can now use your mastery over shadows to make explosions and enhance your natural abilities. These 2 abilities can be used a number of times equal to your charisma modifier in total (minimum of 1).
Shadow Explosion. As a bonus action, you can coat your bow with shadows. The next time you hit with that bow within 10 minutes, the arrow explodes in a burst of darkness dealing an extra 2d6 necrotic damage.
Shadow Enhancement. As a bonus action, you can coat yourself in liquid darkness. For 5 rounds, your speed is increased by 10, your AC is increased by 1, and your jump height is doubled.
Level 6: Shadow Puppetry
Feature: Eclipse Double: Starting at 6th level, when a creature hits you with an attack, you can use your reaction to weave shadows into a false double. You impose disadvantage on the triggering attack roll, potentially causing it to miss. Immediately after, you can teleport up to 15 feet to an unoccupied space you can see, leaving a shadowy decoy behind that vanishes at the start of your next turn. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
Akura Bloodline Armor
Feature: Crystalline Shadow Armor At 10th level, you can call upon the absolute defense of the Akura clan. As a bonus action, you shroud yourself in glowing, purple crystalline armor made of condensed shadows. You gain the following benefits for 1 minute:
-
You gain temporary hit points equal to your Warlock level + your Charisma modifier.
-
You gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage.
-
Your Shadow Strings gain a bonus to their AC and HP equal to your Charisma modifier.
You can use this feature once and regain the ability to do so after a long rest.
Level 14: Nightfall
Feature: Seventh Page: Nightfall: At 14th level, you can channel the full power of the eternal night into a single arrow. As an action while wielding your Bow of Shadows, you fire a massive arrow of pure darkness in a 90-foot line that is 5 feet wide.
Each creature in the line must make a Dexterity saving throw against your Warlock spell save DC. A creature takes 8d8 necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. If a creature fails this save, they are also blinded until the end of your next turn. You can use this feature once per long rest.
