Base Class: Bard
Bards of the College of Impalement have become a favored path among noble circles, a prestigious display of skill and honor that allows one to afflict enemies and support allies; all while remaining at a safe distance. These jugglers of deadly precision have perfected their craft to a level that captivates even the highest of lords and royalty. Their weapons act as an extension of their will, transforming the battlefield, or the ballroom, into their stage. For these aristocratic bards, every strike is both a demonstration of prowess and a testament to their noble lineage.
Bonus Proficiencies
When you join the College of Impalement at 3rd level, your training equips you for both performance and battle:
-
You gain proficiency with sleight of hand and mastery with any weapon that has the thrown or ranged property.
- You can use a weapon with the thrown or ranged property as a spellcasting focus for your bard spells.
Impalement Artist
At 3rd level, you seamlessly integrate your expertise with thrown weapons into combat:
-
When you make an attack with a weapon that has the thrown property, you can draw the weapon as part of the attack, negating the need for a separate action.
-
When you hit with a ranged attack using a thrown weapon, you can roll one additional damage die. This extra die can only be rolled once per turn. (Heavy Blade)
- As a bonus action when you use your off hand you may expend a bardic inspiration die and add the number rolled to your damage. (Fleet Blade)
- You always have cloud or daggers prepared in addition to your other spells.
Evasive Acrobatics
At 6th level, your agility allows you to evade danger with flair:
-
When a creature makes a melee attack against you, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack roll. If the attack misses, you can immediately move up to 10 feet without provoking opportunity attacks.
-
During a short or long rest, you can perform a display of whimsy using your juggling ability, granting temporary hit points equal to your Charisma modifier + your bard level to up to six allies within 30 feet who can see or hear you.
Impalement Mastery
At 14th level, your unparalleled skill with thrown weapons makes you a whirlwind of precision and devastation:
-
When you make an attack with a thrown weapon, you can target up to two creatures within 10 feet of each other. Make one attack roll; if it exceeds both targets' ACs, your weapon strikes both, dealing full damage to each.
-
Critical hits with thrown weapons deal an additional damage die and reduce the target’s movement speed to 0 until the end of their next turn.
-
When you use your Bardic Inspiration, the recipient can immediately make one weapon attack as a reaction.
