Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

You are a demon hunter. You are haunted by a dark event in your past that was caused by demons and it scarred you forever. You are a survior by nature but surviving that ordeal gave you an obsession that cannot be satisfied until every demon is slain. And with every demon that falls to you, you feel closer to peace whilst also closer to madness.

Demonic Obsession

At 3rd level, you become obsessed with hunting demons. As long as you consider Fiends a Favored Enemy, you can choose between one of three different attack options:

Blade Specter

At 3rd level you can create a ghostly copy of a weapon you wield. As long as you count Fiends as a Favored Enemy you can create a spectral copy of a one handed weapon you wield that you are proficient with and that has the finesse property. The copy retains all the attack and damage bonuses of the original, but cannot copy any spells or abilities it grants.

Goliath Killer

At 3rd level, you hunt the big game. As long as Fiends are your Favored Enemy, attacks you make against enemies that are Large or bigger are critical hits if you roll an 18, 19 or 20. Additionally, enemies that have suceeded on a Strength saving throw during combat take an extra 1d8 piercing damage from your attacks and spells.

Shadow Lurker

At 3rd level you gain darkvision up to 60 feet, proficiency with thieves' tools and expertise in a rogue skill of your choice.

Score to Settle

At 3rd level, when you become a Demon Hunter, you give yourself a score to settle. For every enemy you kill, you gain a Head Count point. When you have 4 Head Count points, you can add 1d4 to your attack rolls. When you have 6 points, the die becomes 1d6 and so it goes for 8, 10, 12 and 20 points.

When you have 20 or more Head Count points, each time you slay an enemy you must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a fail you lose this ability until the next time your HP is brought to zero, afterwhich you start with zero Head Count points.

Dark Tactics

At 7th level, you gain one of the following features based on your choice of Demonic Obsession. At 15th level, when you choose another Demonic Obsession, you also choose another one of these features:

Shroud of Shadow

Because you have the Shadow Lurker Obsession, you can create a shroud of shadow that masks friendly targets and reveals hidden enemies to your allies. As an action, you can create a 20 foot wide sphere of darkness within 60 feet of range. Enemies that are invisible or hiding in the shroud are revealed to your allies as if it were Faerie Fire and friendly targets in the shroud are considered heavily obscured. Should an ally try to use the Hide action or become invisible in the shroud, they do so with advantage.

Take Aim

Because you have the Goliath Killer Obession, you can use your bonus action to focus your attack at the cost of your movement. For every 10 feet of movement you have, you can sacrifice it to add 1d4 to your attack roll.

The Best Defense

Because you have the Blade Specter Obsession, whenever you hit a creature with a melee attack, you gain a +4 bonus to AC against all subsequent attacks made by that creature until your next turn.

Hellbound Assault

At 11th level, you gain one of the following features based on your Demonic Obsession choice.

Edge of Madness

Because you have the Blade Specter Obsession, whenever you make a successful melee attack against an enemy, you can use your bonus action to make another melee attack against the same enemy. If you do, you cannot attack any other enemy until your current enemy is dead.

Headshot

Because you have the Goliath Killer Obsession, you can use your action to make a ranged attack against a single target. If you do, the attack is made with advantage and is a critical hit if the attack roll is 15 or higher but you cannot take bonus actions or reactions and you roll all saving throws with disadvantage until your next turn.

Screaming Missile

Because you have the Shaodw Lurker Obsession, you can infuse your next ranged attack with your terrible hatred. If your attack hits its target, it deals an additional 4d6 piercing damage and every creature within 15 feet of the point of impact must make a Wisdom saving throw or be frightened of both you and the missile you fired for 1 minute.

All Consuming Hatred

At 15th level, your demonic obsession doubles, granting you an additional Demonic Obsession and all the benefits that would come with it.
