Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

Precision, patience, and the power of a single, well-placed shot define the Deadeye Sniper. These rangers specialize in long-range combat, using stealth and positioning to eliminate targets before they can react.

Firing Position

As a bonus action, you can assume a prone position. While prone, you gain the following benefits when attacking with a light or heavy crossbow:

  • Double your normal and maximum range.
  • Ignore disadvantage on ranged attacks from being prone.
  • Gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls. This bonus increases to +3 at 7th level, +4 at 11th level, and +5 at 15th level.
  • Ignore half cover and three-quarters cover; only full cover blocks your attacks.

Hunter’s Mark Range: When you cast Hunter’s Mark, its range becomes equal to your weapon's maximum range.

Close Quarters Disadvantage: You make ranged attacks at disadvantage when an enemy is within 15 feet instead of the normal 5 feet.

Swift Stand: As long as no hostile creatures are within 15 feet of you, you can stand up from prone using only 5 feet of movement.

Unseen Threat

Your ability to blend into the environment makes you a ghost on the battlefield.

  • While prone, you gain a +10 bonus to Stealth checks.
  • When you assume the prone position, you can take the Hide action as part of the same bonus action.

Kill Zone

You create a deadly sniping zone, making it nearly impossible for enemies to escape your fire.

  • Overwatch: When a creature moves more than 5 feet while within your weapon's normal range, you can use your reaction to make a ranged weapon attack against them. This attack deals extra damage equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1).
  • Pinning Shot: When you hit a creature with a ranged attack while prone, their movement speed is halved until the start of your next turn.

Bullseye

Your precise shots deal devastating damage.

  • When attacking while prone, you roll an additional weapon damage die.
  • If you kill a creature affected by your Hunter’s Mark, you can reapply it to another creature as a reaction.

Exploit Weakness

You can identify an enemy’s vulnerabilities and strike with pinpoint accuracy.

  • While prone, your critical hit threshold is reduced by 1 (you critically hit on 19-20). This stacks with other effects.
  • When you critically hit a creature marked by Hunter’s Mark, you roll an extra damage die for the critical hit bonus damage.

Headshot

By carefully lining up a shot, you can eliminate targets with a single bullet.

You can take a special shot against a creature with a clearly defined head or weak point:

  • Action + Bonus Action: You take careful aim.
  • Make an attack with a light or heavy crossbow.
  • This attack suffers a -8 penalty to hit.
  • On a hit, the attack is automatically a critical hit.

Surgical Precision

Your mastery of long-range combat allows you to strike with unparalleled lethality.

Deadly Focus: When you assume the prone position, you can choose to enter a state of extreme focus. While in this state:

  • Your critical hit threshold is reduced to 18-20.
  • Your Hunter’s Mark damage is doubled when you score a critical hit.
  • Once per turn, when you hit a creature with a ranged attack, you can force them to make a Constitution saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier). On a failure, they are stunned until the end of your next turn.

This state lasts until you move or take damage.
