Base Class: Monk
Tenets of the Middle
Monks who follow the Way of the Middle inscribe their bodies with sacred tattoos that shimmer with Ki and justice. These warriors strike down evil not in blind fury, but in burning clarity—each attack a fulfillment of a divine promise. Their mystical ink glows with the wrath of the betrayed, their bodies honed for vengeance beyond death.
Level 3: Mark of Vengeance
As a bonus action, you may expend 1 Ki point to mark a creature within 60 feet that you can see. This mark lasts for 1 minute or until you choose another target. You can only mark one creature at a time.
Effects of the Mark:
-
Your first successful weapon or unarmed strike each turn against the marked creature deals bonus damage equal to your Martial Arts die.
-
While the mark persists, you are aware of the creature’s location as long as it is on the same plane of existence.
Level 6: Brand of the Middle
Your Ki-infused tattoos harden your resolve and deflect harm.
-
You gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing damage from nonmagical weapons while unarmored. You may change the chosen type after each long rest.
-
While you have at least 1 Ki point, you reduce all damage you take by an amount equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum 1).
You also gain access to a new use of your Flurry of Blows: Flurry of Judgment.
Flurry of Judgment: When you use Flurry of Blows, you may spend 1 additional Ki point. Each strike that hits a marked creature forces it to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier). On a failed save, the creature is frightened of you until the start of your next turn.
Level 11: Vow of Retaliation
When a creature marked by you harms an ally within 30 feet, you can use your reaction to move up to your speed and make one unarmed or monk weapon attack against it.
-
If the attack hits, it gains Mark of Vengeance damage and imposes disadvantage on the target's next attack roll.
-
At 13th level, you may spend 1 Ki point to perform a Flurry of Blows against the marked target during this reaction.
-
At 18th level, if both Flurry strikes hit, the creature must succeed a Constitution saving throw or be stunned until the end of your next turn.
Level 17: Brand of the Book of Vengeance
You may spend up to 3 additional Ki when applying Mark of Vengeance.
-
Each Ki spent increases the bonus damage by one Martial Arts die.
-
While the mark is active, you gain temporary hit points equal to your Wisdom modifier at the start of each of your turns.
-
If the marked creature dies, you may transfer the mark (no Ki cost) to another creature you can see within 30 feet.
The Middle – North Section: Test of the Middle
Your Vengeance has gone far beyond the normal mortal world. You have truly entered the world of the luscious, and will do your best to represent your syndicate.
At the start of combat, you may mark one creature you can see without expending Ki. You may do so once per short or long rest.
While a creature is marked:
-
You have advantage on all attack rolls against it.
-
It has disadvantage on saving throws against your Monk features.
-
When you reduce a marked creature to 0 HP, you regain 2 Ki points.
