Base Class: Fighter
Fighters who adopt the Tactician archetype view the battlefield not as chaos, but as a living equation waiting to be solved. Every enemy movement, every twitch of muscle or shifting stance, feeds into their mental calculus. They do not act hastily. They act correctly.
Tacticians are not defined by brute force or blind aggression, but by the chilling precision of perfect timing. Through rigorous mental discipline, they learn to anticipate attacks, forecast outcomes, and commit to action only when success is within reach. Their strikes are not frequent—but they are devastating.
With a unique ability to preplan their assaults and weaponize their intellect, Tacticians avoid failure not through luck, but through absolute control. Whether standing firm against psychic assault, guiding an ally out of peril, or unleashing a carefully timed barrage, the Tactician is always several steps ahead.
Mental Superiority
You can choose to roll your melee attacks with intelligence rather than Str or Dex, if you choose to do so you gain an additional +1 to the modifier damage.
Forethought
As a bonus action on your turn, you may initiate a battleplan. Choose a number of creatures you can see up to the number of attacks you can make this turn (e.g., two creatures if you have Extra Attack). For each chosen creature, roll an attack roll in advance and record the results—these are your foreseen strikes.
Until the end of your turn, if you make an attack against one of the foreseen targets, you must use the corresponding recorded roll instead of rolling anew. However, you are not required to attack those targets—you may choose to attack other creatures normally, using fresh rolls as usual.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.
Field Adaptation
When you make an attack with a weapon that has the Weapon Mastery property, you can replace its current Mastery effect with any other Weapon Mastery option you know and are eligible to use for that weapon. You must choose the new effect before the attack roll is made. This ability can only be used once per turn.
Strategic Counter
When a creature within your reach misses you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to trigger the effect of any Weapon Mastery property you know against that creature. The mastery effect does not have to correspond to the weapon you are currently wielding.
You do not make an attack roll (Unless the property is Nick)—this feature applies only the effect of the chosen Mastery property (such as Push, Topple, Sap, etc.), and the target must make any required saving throws as normal.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.
Mental Bulwark
You gain resistance to Psychic damage, are immune to the frightened condition, and your mind can no longer be read unless you allow it.
Additionally, when a creature you can see within 15 feet of you makes a saving throw or is targeted by an attack roll, you can use your reaction to add your Intelligence modifier (minimum +1) to the result of their saving throw or to their AC against that single attack.
This feature can also be used to assist with death saving throws, adding your Intelligence modifier to the result of the die roll before determining the outcome.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.
