Base Class: Barbarian
The Forgotten Realms, the lost cities within… They all need a hero to aid them in their time of need, for justice, for love!.. Oh, NAY, THE ENTIRE MULTIVERSE NEEDS SUCH!
Magical Girls of Love & Hatred are a rare sight, to say the least- born from an overabundance of emotion, these quasi-bardic people are actually not limited only to females, attaining the name because of unusual chains of events.
As a Magical Girl of Love & Hatred, your Rage action is not fueled only by anger, but mayhaps by the indomitable will to bring out justice to the realms, all in the name of love and compassion!… Or to stamp out the hatred stirring deep within you via any villains in your path. These barbarians aren’t ever exactly “good”, despite what they seem to believe; instead, they are single mindedly focused on the desire to do good, to feel needed and will use their near delirious states of mind and strangely specific magic to bring out the “Love” they need.
Level 3: In the Name of Love!
When you choose this path at 3rd level, your latent quasi-bardic magic is beginning to manifest better, encompassing your weapons in the name of Love! When you enter rage, you may choose one weapon that you are wielding and transform it into a Magic Wand, the weapon morphing in a flash of light into the style you'd prefer, but maintaining any sharp edges and its general shape. While you are wielding your Magic Wand, as long as no other creature is suffering from the Villain condition, the next creature you deal damage to suffers from being considered the Villain.
While you can see or hear the Villain, your near-sacred mission of protecting love takes hold of you. You gain a bonus to attack rolls equal to half your Proficiency Modifier against the creature and you deal your Strength modifier's worth of force damage instead of the usual damage type following your weapon on a hit.
Your Magic Wand morphs back into its original form when you finish raging.
Level 6: I Can Take Care of the Baddies!
Starting at 6th level, just like the magic that clings under your skin seems to develop more and more, so does your elation when thwarting Villains! In tandem, though, so grows your despair when things don't go your way, as they often may not. While raging, every time you miss an attack or take damage from a creature who is a Villain, you gain one stack of Hysteria, gaining double on any critical failures. You lose a stack whenever you land a hit against the Villain and lose them all when the Villain is knocked Unconscious or dies or your rage ends.
While under the effects of Hysteria, you progressively get more deranged in your pursuit of justice, your lofty goals propelling you forward like a hurricane of pain. As such, you may spend Hysteria stacks to perform the following:
Arcana Beats! As part of your attack action, you may spend a Hysteria stack per attack to literally beat your righteousness into the air using your Magic Wand! You gain an additional 15-feet radius to your attack and it deals an additional 1d4 force damage on a hit, as beams of arcane energy shoot out to complement it.
In the Name of Love and Hate! By spending an action and three Hysteria stacks you may prepare a series of magical circles to soak your Magic Wand into as you deliver a single powerful blow enchanted by each circle; you roll a weapon attack as usual, and on a hit you instead deal 2d12 plus your Strength Modifier in force damage. The target must pass a Constitution Saving Throw (DC equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier) or suffer a stack of Fragility.
A Fragilized creature feels their interiors becoming brittle, and any blow could easily break them as the weakness sinks in, rendering attacks much more effective against them. A creature suffering from Fragility suffers from one of two effects depending on how many stacks they possess. From one to four, they suffer the equivalent value of stacks as penalty to their AC. On five or above the next damage type they take considered as if their resistance was one step down, with immunities becoming resistance, resistance becoming normal and normal becoming a vulnerability. After taking damage like this, one stack of Fragility is removed.
Level 10: Bathed in Love and Justice!
You're even better at manifesting your love now! Starting from 10th level, you may use a bonus action (or as a free action when entering rage) to magically change into your Magical Girl Outfit, which grants half your proficiency modifier as a bonus to your AC. While in this form, you can treat any Charisma-based skill check as if you were proficient in any of its respective skills, or expertise if you were already proficient with them. You also suffer disadvantage on Insight checks while transformed, as the world seems oh so much colorful to you, and you just need to focus on protecting that beautiful color. On that same note, you become vulnerable to psychic damage, yet you gain double the amount of Hysteria stacks you normally would when suffering that type of damage as the disembodied whispers of your own hatred sink in.
In addition, this form lasts for up to an hour and you may end it early as a free action. You may use this feature a number of times equal to half your proficiency modifier, regaining its uses on a long rest.
Level 14: Nihil
There are those moments where anyone simply cracks. Not all can withstand the weight of the worlds in their shoulders, and you have for so long! When you reach level 14th in this class, your arcana sometimes peeks past to reveal your true rage. While raging, when you have more than five Hysteria stacks you may spend a free action to sink even deeper in your hatred, your body magically transforming to that of a decrepit-looking humanoid snake, your eyes bloodshot and obsessed, and your mouth sparking with the fires of your unrequited love. This forms lasts until your rage is over, and during it your AC is only 10 + your Strength modifier, as you don’t care about the hurt anymore. In addition, any of your attacks are much more devastating, dealing an additional 2d4 force damage on a hit, alongside the ability to change the damage type of your Brutal Criticals to force damage. While in this form, you may spend 4 stacks of ㅤ Hysteria to use Arcana Slave.
Arcana Slave. You may spend your action to let out a colossal, waste-laying beam of unrequited love and pure arcana at any meanies in your way. This line originates from you and is fifteen-feet wide, sixty-feet long, with any creature caught in its wake needing to pass a Charisma Saving Throw (DC equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier) or suffer 8d10 force damage, or half on a success.
