Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

While many fighters seek glory in duels or on far-flung battlefields, the Bastion is shaped by a life of disciplined defense - most famously in the ranks of Neverwinter's City Guard. These warriors don't chase fame or fortune. They stand firm in alleyway brawls, guard gates under siege, and shield the innocent with seasoned steel.

Bastions embody endurance, duty and battlefield control.  Their techniques came from years of holding bridges against orc warbands, forming shield walls against rampagng elementals and pushing back street gangs with only grit and formation training. Whether retired from the guard or taking their skills into the wider world, a Bastion never forgets the core lesson:

You are the shield. You don't break.

Level 3: Defenders' Drill

Shielding Stance.
When a creature within 5 feet of you that you can see is targeted by an attack, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack roll. You must be wielding a shield or wearing heavy armour to do so.

Defensive Posture.
If you haven’t moved during your turn, you can use a bonus action to enter a defensive posture until the start of your next turn. While in this posture:
• Your movement speed becomes 0.
• You gain a bonus to AC equal to your proficiency bonus.
• Allies within 5 feet of you gain half cover (+2 to AC and Dexterity saving throws).

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.

Level 7: Linebreaker

The Line Will Hold

When you take damage from a creature within 5 feet of you, you can use your reaction to reduce the damage by an amount equal to your Fighter level + your Constitution modifer. If this reduces the damage to 0, you may immediately make a shove attempt against the attacker as part of the same reaction.

Level 10: Brothers in Arms

When a creature within 5 feet of you takes damage from an attack, you can use your reaction to take the damage instead. You take the full damage from the triggering attack, and the ally takes none.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of once) per long rest.

Level 15: Unshakeable

While wearing heavy armour, you gain resitance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical weapons.

Allies within 10 feet of you have advantage on saving throws against being frightened or forcibly moved.

Level 18: Survivor

You attain the pinnacle of resilience in battle, giving you these benefits.

Defy Death. You have Advantage on Death Saving Throws. Moreover, when you roll 18–20 on a Death Saving Throw, you gain the benefit of rolling a 20 on it.

Heroic Rally. At the start of each of your turns, you regain Hit Points equal to 5 plus your Constitution modifier if you are Bloodied and have at least 1 Hit Point.
