Base Class: Fighter
Striking their opponents when they least expect it, practitioners of the Southern Blade move without showing purpose in order to confuse their enemies. These practitioners are usually compared to that of a moving flame, erratic and spontaneous in their attack patterns, never doing the same thing twice.
Walking with Flames
At 3rd level, you temper your body to resist the heat of the flames. You gain resistance to fire.
Flickering Strikes
You have trained hard in order to have your attacks imitate flickering flames, able to strike in an unpredictable and random manner. At 3rd level, whenever you make a melee weapon attack against a creature and it misses, you may use your reaction to re-roll the attack. If a creature makes an attack against you and they miss, you may use your reaction to make an attack against that creature.
Additionally, if a creature has a feature or skill that gives you disadvantage on melee attacks against them, you ignore it.
Ignite Soul
At 7th level, you learn to release the flames within your soul. As a bonus action, you heat the metal of your sword, dealing an additional 2d8 fire damage. Creatures within 5 feet of you must also make a Dexterity save or take 2d6 fire damage as the air around you becomes extremely hot, or half as much on a save. This feature lasts for 1 minute.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Intelligence Modifier per Long Rest
Southern Style: Salamander
At 10th level, you gain additional effects whenever you activate your Ignite Soul feature. Whenever you make a melee weapon attack while your Soul is Ignited, your blade burns the air and after a few seconds summons forth a trail of fire that rains down on your enemy. In addition to your normal weapon damage, the creature must make a Dexterity saving throw or take 4d6 fire damage, or half as much on a success.
Southern Style: Ferocious Burst
At 15th level, when you make a melee attack against a creature, you gather the flames within your soul and send it out in an explosive wave. Each creature within a 30 foot cone behind the creature you hit must make a Dexterity saving through or take 6d8 fire damage, or half as much on a success.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier per Long Rest
Southern Arts: Firebird
At 18th level, you enter into a stance with your sword high in the air over your head. While your Ignite Soul feature is activated, you can use an action to wreath your sword in flames that extend upward to 90 feet. As you swing down, any creature within a 90 foot by 5 foot line in front of you must make a Dexterity saving throw or take 10d8 fire damage, or half as much on a success.
