Base Class: Monk
The Whispering Fang style combines precise strikes with lethal accuracy, each blow made to either cripple or kill. As such, many monks who practice this style are secluded from the world, using this martial art as a form of meditation rather than violence.
It is a discipline of self-control and willpower, which is used to hide how fearsome these monks really are. For those that do not heed the “whisper”, they are met with a flurry of fangs from a lion.
Level 3: Whispering Fang Style
Whenever you deal damage with an Unarmed Strike, you can treat the damage as Piercing instead of its normal damage type.
You can perform the techniques listed below when you make an Unarmed Strike:
Fang Strike. If you miss, you can spend 1 Focus Point to gain a bonus to the attack roll equal to twice your Wisdom modifier, possibly turning it into a hit.
Lion’s Maw. If you hit, You can spend 1 Focus Point to make the attack strike with the force of a lion’s bite. You roll your Martial Arts die twice for the damage of that attack, and you can treat any rolled 1s as 2s.
Level 6: Whispering Step
Your feet learn to step quiet, and step swift. Whenever you take the Disengage action, your Speed increases by 10 feet and the first attack roll you make with an Unarmed Strike before the end of your turn is made at Advantage if you willingly move at least 10 feet before attacking the target.
Level 11: Improved Fangs
You gain the following benefits to your Whispering Fang Style techniques:
Fang Strike. The attack now deals additional damage equal to your Wisdom modifier.
Lion’s Maw. If you roll the highest value on one of the damage die for this technique, you regain 1 Focus Point.
Level 11: Deadly Whispers
Whenever you take the Dodge action, you enter a riposting stance. When a creature you can see within 15 feet misses an attack roll against you while you are in this stance, you can make an Opportunity Attack against that creature without spending a Reaction, and if that creature is outside of your reach, you move until you are within reach. Once you use this benefit, you loose the benefits of the Dodge action.
Level 17: Whispering Fang Master
As a master of the Whispering Fang Style, you gain the following benefits:
Focused Defense. Once per round, when an attack roll misses you, you regain 1 Focus Point.
Moving Whisper. When you use Patient Defense to take the Disengage and Dodge actions, the benefits of those actions last for two turns.
Piercing Fangs. If you roll a 19 on the d20 for an attack roll and use one of your Whispering Fang Style techniques, that attack becomes a Critical Hit. Any Piercing damage you deal with an Unarmed Strike ignores Resistance.
