Base Class: Wizard
Necromancers are manipulators of flesh long since rotted, puppeteering cadavers for whatever endeavors they wish to partake in. They utilize powerful reanimation spells to create not-quite life, subservient to the necromancer and the necromancer alone. Whether it be through murder, grave robbing, or some other method, Necromancers will find a way to breathe unlife into any creature unfortunate enough to die near them.
Level 3: Necromancy Savant
Beginning when you select this school at 2nd level, the gold and time you must spend to copy a Necromancy spell into your spellbook is halved.
Level 3: Grim Harvest
At 2nd level, once per turn, when you kill a humanoid creature with a necromancy spell, you may cause one of two effects:
Necrotic Sap
Gain hit points equal to five times the spell's level.
Create Thrall
Create a Zombie or Skeleton from a creature's corpse (the corpse must be Medium or smaller). You can have a number of these undead equal to half your intelligence modifier rounded up. The undead lasts for 1 minute before falling back down as a corpse. You can use a bonus action to mentally command any undead created by this feature if it is within 60 feet of you (if you control multiple undead, you can command any or all of them at the same time, issuing the same command to each one). Undead created by this feature have half the maximum hit points compared to their average health in the Monster Manual (rounded down). If you create a zombie with this feature, it does not have the Undead Fortitude feature.
Level 6: Improved Undead
Beginning at 6th level, you add the Animate Dead spell to your spellbook, if it is not there already. When you cast a necromancy spell that requires a corpse of pile of bones (Animate Dead, Danse Macabre, Create Undead, etc.), you can target one additional corpse or pile of bones, creating another undead, as appropriate. All undead you summon with necromancy gain the following benefits:
- Their hit point maximum is increased by an amount equal to your wizard level.
- They add your intelligence modifier to attack and damage rolls.
- Their minimum AC is 10.
This feature does not apply to undead risen by the Grim Harvest feature.
Level 10: Necrotic Shroud
Starting at 10th level, you and your undead gain protection through channeling necrotic energy. All undead your control gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical attacks while within 10 feet of you. You gain a +1 bonus to AC for every undead within 5 feet of you (maximum of +3).
Level 14: Scholar of Undeath
You have fully mastered the art of necromancy. Starting at 14th level, you gain the following benefits:
- You can now reanimate large and huge creatures, although reanimating a huge creature requires concentration (up to 1 hour).
- Undead you control deal an additional 1d8 necrotic damage and have a base AC of 12.
- Once per long rest, you can cast a summoning necromancy spell without expending a spell slot.
