Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

“They warned me not to fly so high. They never said how glorious it would feel.”

There are warriors who fight for country, coin, or command. But a rare few are consumed by something greater: the desire to rise, to defy their limits, and to touch the divine. These are the fighters of the Fallen Sun—martial paragons who soar on wings of radiant power, their ambition blazing like the sun itself.

Their power may come from divine fragments, ancient relics, or inner fire awakened by sheer will. But it is not without risk. As they rise, so too does the light within them burn hotter. The sky welcomes them—but the fall is always waiting.

To follow the path of the Fallen Sun is to burn for greatness, no matter the cost.

Level 3: Wings of Ambition

At 3rd level, your hunger for elevation manifests in the form of radiant, spectral wings. You gain the ability to fly, striking from above like a falling star.

As a bonus action, you can summon your wings, which last for 1 minute. The wings may appear as shining feathers, searing solar flame, golden light, or arcane constructs—shaped by your character’s story and power source.

While your wings are active:

  • You gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed.

  • When you take the Attack action, you can make one melee weapon attack as a bonus action against a creature you flew at least 10 feet toward that turn.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all expended uses after a long rest.

Level 7: Solar Flare (Scaled Version)

Your radiant wings glow brighter with each battle. While your Wings of Ambition are active, once per turn when you hit with a weapon attack, you deal extra radiant damage:

Fighter Level Radiant Damage
7–9 1d6
10–14 2d6
15–17 3d6
18–20 4d6

Additionally, you gain resistance to radiant damage, as your body begins to channel and endure the fires of the upper realms.

Level 10: Ascendant Precision

From your elevated vantage point, your strikes land with mythic clarity.

  • When you make a weapon attack with advantage, you can reroll one of the dice once per turn.

  • While flying with your Wings of Ambition, opportunity attacks against you are made with disadvantage, as your aerial grace makes you harder to pin down.

Level 15: Solar Overload

You can release the searing radiance within in a blinding burst of power.

As an action while your Wings of Ambition are active, you can unleash a 15-foot cone of radiant energy. Each creature in the area must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength or Dexterity modifier).

  • On a failed save, the creature takes 6d8 radiant damage and is blinded until the end of your next turn.

  • On a success, it takes half damage and is not blinded.

After using this ability:

  • Your wings immediately vanish, and you begin to fall unless another effect is keeping you aloft.

  • You cannot use Wings of Ambition again until you finish a long rest.

This is your defining Icarian moment: a burst of celestial might that burns too bright to hold.

Level 18: Burning Apex

You have reached your final form—a blazing warrior whose glory scorches sky and earth alike.

While your Wings of Ambition are active:

  • Your flying speed increases by 10 feet.

  • When you reduce a creature to 0 hit points, you gain temporary hit points equal to your Fighter level.

  • However, if you end your turn more than 60 feet above solid ground, you take 1d10 fire damage, ignoring resistance. For every additional 10 feet above 60, the damage increases by 1d10.

This damage represents the dangerous truth of your gift—the higher you fly, the more the sun burns.

"I touched the heavens—and I burned."

Level 3: Wings of Ambition

At 3rd level, your hunger for elevation manifests in the form of radiant, spectral wings. You gain the ability to fly, striking from above like a falling star.

As a bonus action, you can summon your wings, which last for 1 minute. The wings appear as glowing constructs—burning feathers of light, crackling solar arcs, or golden energy shaped like angelic plumage, depending on the source of your power.

While your wings are active:

  • You gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed.

  • When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can make one additional melee weapon attack as a bonus action if you flew at least 10 feet toward a target during the turn.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Level 7: Solar Flare

By 7th level, your wings begin to emit an intense heat and brilliance, scorching your foes with divine or cosmic fire as you strike from the skies.

Solar Flare:
While your Wings of Ambition are active, once per turn when you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can deal an extra 1d6 radiant damage as your strike flares with solar might. This damage increases to 3d8 at 15th level.

In addition, you gain resistance to radiant damage, your skin taking on a sun-kissed sheen or shimmering slightly with celestial energy.

Level 10: Ascendant Precision

By 10th level, your aerial fighting style sharpens into deadly grace. From above, your strikes land with devastating clarity, guided by instinct and ambition.

  • When you make a weapon attack with advantage, you can reroll one of the dice once per turn.

  • While flying using Wings of Ambition, you are harder to pin down. Opportunity attacks against you are made with disadvantage.

This precision often leads enemies to hesitate, unsure whether to strike at the radiant blur above or flee its wrath.

  • On a success, it takes half damage and is not blinded.

After using this ability:

  • Your wings immediately vanish, and you begin to fall unless another effect is keeping you aloft.

  • You cannot use Wings of Ambition again until you finish a long rest.

While your Wings of Ambition are active:

  • Your flying speed increases by 10 feet.

This damage represents the dangerous truth of your gift—the higher you fly, the more the sun burns.
