Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Not all rage burns hot. For some, it drowns. Barbarians who follow the Path of the Weeping Maiden are consumed by sorrow so deep, so ancient, that it cannot be expressed in words — only in wails, tears, and devastation. When they rage, they do not roar — they weep. Their grief blinds them to light and shadow alike, and grants them power over fear, despair, and lingering pain.

Sorrow of the Lost

While you rage, you gain resistance to necrotic damage as well as blindsight of 10 feet.

Drowning Rage

When you enter your rage, your body erupts into a flood of tears — spectral or real — that stream from your eyes, swirl around your form, and soak the earth.

  • You emit an aura of sorrow in a 10-foot radius. Enemies that start their turn in the aura must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency + your Constitution modifier) or have disadvantage on their next attack roll until the start of their next turn.

  • The aura is flavorfully represented by weeping spirits, falling spectral petals, or simply overwhelming emotional pressure.

Grief Unending

Your sorrow lashes out against those who try to silence you.

  • When a creature within 5 feet of you hits you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to unleash a burst of mournful energy. The attacker must make a Charisma saving throw (DC as above) or be frightened of you until the end of their next turn.

  • Once you use this feature, you must finish a short or long rest to use it again.

  • At 14th level, you can use this feature twice per rest.

Weight of the Past

Your presence becomes a burden — your pain lingers in the minds of those you strike.

  • Once per turn when you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack while raging, you can force it to make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save:

    • The creature’s speed is halved until the start of your next turn.

This represents your sorrow dragging them down — like memories of loss or a weight they cannot bear.

River of Tears

Your grief becomes a tide that cannot be held back.

  • While raging, your tears form into an aura of spectral water in a 10-foot radius.

    • Enemies who enter or start their turn in the aura must make a Strength saving throw or be knocked prone, as if swept away by a current.

  • If you reduce a creature to 0 HP while raging, you can choose one creature within the aura to have disadvantage on its next Wisdom saving throw against features of this subclass.
