Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

Kitsune Rangers are masters of illusion, trickery, and fire. These enigmatic guardians of the wild turn the world into their playground, dancing between shadows and flames to protect the natural order with their fey-inspired magic and cunning.

Level 3: Foxfire Magic

When you reach a Ranger level specified in the Kitsune Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.

Kitsune Spells

3rd faerie fire

5th mirror image

9th fireball

13th confusion

17th dominate person

Level 3: Playful Escapades

You learn minor illusion. When you are hit by an attack, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage. After the attack resolves, you leave an illusory image in your space and teleport up to 15 feet, becoming invisible until the end of your next turn or until you attack or cast a spell. The image has your AC and vanishes if hit. It ignores area damage.

As a Magic action, you can create an image that lasts 1 minute, with the same properties.

You can use each version of this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all uses on a long rest.

You also add your Wisdom modifier to Charisma checks.

Level 7: Advanced Foxfire

Once per turn, you can add 1d8 fire damage to your weapon, spell damage, or to a healing spell. This improves to 2d8 at level 15. Additionally, Your Image from Playful Escapades causes all enemies within 15 feet to roll a charisma saving throw. On a failure, the enemy gains disadvantage on any attacks that are not directed at the image while the image persists.

Level 11: Beguiler's influence

You can cast disguise self at will. Creatures have disadvantage on checks to discern your identity.

As a free action on your turn, you can cause the image to flare with foxfire. Choose up to two creatures within 15 feet of the image:

  • One takes 2d8 + your Wisdom modifier fire damage.
  • One regains 2d8 + your Wisdom modifier hit points.

You can use this foxfire flare a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum once), regaining all uses on a long rest.

While in a crowded area, you are considered invisible.

Level 15: Deeper Escapades

You can place a second image within 60 feet when using Playful Escapades. You can attack from either image and use a bonus action to swap places with one.

This lets you manipulate the battlefield while remaining elusive, giving you full use of your illusions as decoys and vantage points.
