Rogue
Base Class: Rogue

A gull cries overhead, rigging creaks, and every eye on the pier turns to the figure striding down the gangplank. Hat tipped just so, smile like a sunrise ready to burn your retinas, the Buccaneer makes even the tide hold its breath. Where the typical rogue slips through alleys, this one owns the open boards of a deck, turning wind and wave into the perfect spotlight.

Sea-Dog’s Swagger

From the first clap of boots on timber, a Buccaneer’s confidence is a weapon. “Courage,” Captain Kamseen once said, “is faster than steel.” With a lunging rush they slam shoulder first into an opponent, draw a blade in the same heartbeat, and wheel away before anyone thinks to swing back. A captain’s word becomes the crew’s heartbeat; a Buccaneer’s charm becomes the initiative that wins a fight.

Fearsome Reputation

Word sails faster than any ship. Villages still murmur about Raw-Strike Raven, who stared down a fort’s whole garrison and watched half its archers drop bows just because her grin suggested they’d already lost. The stories might be stretched like tarred rope, but the fear those stories breed is real—enough to shake knees and open purse strings without spilling a drop of blood.

Hurricane Hop

Buccaneers learn that water is just another surface to dance upon. A swirl of cloak, a flash of teeth, and they vanish in a salty gust—reappearing behind the next foe with sails billowing overhead. When boarding chains clatter and ship rails spark with musket fire, a Buccaneer is already moving, turning the chaos of broken planks into a personal stage.

Dread Captain

The greatest of their kind can start a mutiny with a raised eyebrow and end a battle with a single, perfectly timed strike. Under their command drums beat louder, blades swing truer, and even the wind seems to favor the daring. Enemies lock eyes with that blazing charisma, feel their resolve snap, and freeze as if time itself has sworn loyalty to the captain.

“A true pirate steals more than gold,”
—Old Salt proverb
“We steal the moment, the rhythm, the very choice of fear.”

Whether you sail Lustria’s mist-slick coasts, stalk river caravans, or swagger through palace halls in sea-salt boots, the Buccaneer archetype lets a rogue trade silent shadows for rolling thunder—winning battles with a laugh, a blade, and charisma bright enough to outshine the sun on open water.

Sea-Dog’s Swagger

  • You can use Charisma in place of Dexterity for:

    • Initiative rolls

    • Sneak-Attack eligibility: if you’re within 5 ft of your target and no other enemy is, you count as having advantage if your Charisma score is 16 or higher.

  • Boarding Rush. When you move at least 10 ft straight toward a creature and hit it with a melee weapon on the same turn, you can add your Charisma modifier to the damage and you don’t provoke opportunity attacks for the rest of the turn.

Fearsome Reputation

Your deeds are legendary—and terrifying.

  • As a bonus action, choose creatures within 30 ft that can see or hear you (up to CHA mod). Each must make a Wisdom save (DC = 8 + Prof + CHA). On a fail it is frightened of you until the end of your next turn. A creature that saves is immune for 24 h.

  • When a creature is frightened of you, your attacks against it deal +1d6 psychic damage.

Hurricane Hop

You master battlefield momentum.

  • Hurricane Hop (no action, 1/turn): Immediately after you take the Attack action or use Cunning Action, you can teleport to an unoccupied spot you can see within 15 ft. If you appear adjacent to at least one enemy, you gain half cover until the start of your next turn.

  • You can now walk on liquid surfaces (as water walk) for a number of rounds equal to your Charisma modifier per long rest; you decide when to start or end those rounds (no action).

Dread Captain

Your presence turns skirmishes into mutinies.

  • Rally the Crew. When you roll initiative, choose up to CHA mod creatures (you can see/hear). They gain temp HP = your rogue level + CHA mod and advantage on the first attack they make before the end of that first round.

  • Dread Strike. Once per turn when you hit a creature, you can force it to make a Wisdom save (DC = 8 + Prof + CHA). On a failure it is stunned until the end of your next turn. A creature that succeeds is immune to your Dread Strike for 24 hours.
