Base Class: Ranger
Your innate connection to the primal magic of the world and nature has served you well, from survival and tracking to hunting your foes. The Corsair’s Conclave seeks to infuse this magic into something a little less natural, combining the wonders of modern black powder with the potent primal magics deep within. The result is a deadly pistoleer capable of near impossible feats of prowess with a flintlock, all wrapped in the competent arcana of a trained ranger.
Level 3: Flintlock Expert
You become proficient in all firearms, and when using a firearm you ignore the disadvantage imposed by making attacks at long range. Additionally when you take the attack action, you can make an attack with a flintlock or other one-handed firearm as a bonus action, drawing the firearm as part of the attack.
Level 3: Corsair Conclave Spells
When you reach a Ranger level specified in the Corsair Conclave Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.
| Ranger Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3 | Hunter’s Mark |
| 5 | Surging Smite* |
| 9 | Haste |
| 13 | Freedom of Movement |
| 17 | Animate Objects |
Level 3: Primal Shot
You can charge your firearm with power, infusing it with primal magical potency. Any firearm you are using has no need for ammunition, instead forming a magical bullet made of primal energy, which disappear after use. You also learn to infuse these attacks with primeval ferocity, called Primal Shots. You may only use one Primal Shot per attack (no action required)
Predator Shot - When you hit a creature with an attack using a firearm, you aim to expose the most vulnerable point on your target. The next weapon attack made against the target is made with advantage.
Fathom Shot - When you hit a creature with an attack using a firearm, you empower your shot with the crushing pressure of the sea. The creature’s speed is reduced by 10 feet if it is large or smaller.
Wildfire Shot - When you hit a creature with an attack using a firearm, you can expend a spell slot to deal an extra 1d8 fire damage to the target, plus another 1d8 per level of the spell slot (minimum of 2d8).
Level 7: Corsair’s Arcane
When you use a bonus action to make an attack with a firearm, or change your Hunter’s Mark target, you can also cast a ranger spell as part of that action. When a spell is cast in this way, you may ignore any material and somatic components.
Level 11: Hunter’s Barrage
Once per turn when you hit the target of your hunter’s mark or favoured foe with a weapon attack from your firearm, you can cause any creatures of your choice within 10 feet of the target to also take the additional damage from the spell or feature.
Level 15: Primeval Pistoleer
You are a flurry of lead and magic, a deadly master of firearms and arcana. You can attack three times, instead of twice, when you take the attack action.
In addition, if you roll initiative and your available unused spell slots total a number equal to or less than your ranger level, you gain a third level spell slot which lasts until combat is over or until expended, whichever is sooner.
