Base Class: Barbarian
By unfortunate circumstance or some malevolent intent, those who walk the Path of the Witchmark suffer from a curse, called their Witchmark. Their rage has latched on to this curse and leeches on it, imbuing them with supernatural powers.
Level 3: Mark of the Witched
You suffer from a malignant supernatural condition, referred to as your Witchmark for the rest of this subclass description. Removing your Witchmark through means such as the wish spell may cause you to lose this subclass, with the DM's discretion. Your Witchmark gives you the following penalties:
- Choose an ability when you pick this subclass: you have Disadvantage on ability checks made with the chosen ability.
- Choose any damage type when you pick this subclass: the first time you take damage during a round, you take an extra 2d4 damage of the chosen type.
While you are in a Rage, you are resistant to damage you take from your Witchmark, if you wouldn't be resistant to it already. Moreover, whenever you hit a creature, you can choose to curse them with your Witchmark; they suffer the same penalties. The curse lasts for them until your Rage ends or you curse another creature. At higher levels, your Witchmark deals more damage: level 7 (2d6), 11 (2d8), 15 (2d10), and 19 (2d12).
Level 6: Eldritch Mark
Choose an Eldritch Invocation with a Level prerequisite of 6 or lower that has no other prerequisites. You cannot choose a Pact Invocation such as Pact of the Blade, Tome, or Chain. If the Invocation grants a spell, you can cast it while you are in your Rage as long as you don't use a spell slot to do so, and you can concentrate on such spells you cast, even during your Rages. Constitution is your Spellcasting Ability for the Invocation, as the Witchmark feeds off your lifeforce.
Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace this Invocation with a different one that meets the same prerequisites.
Level 10: Harnessed Mark
Your skill in exploiting your Witchmark for your own purposes improves, unlocking the following benefits:
Lingering Curse A creature cursed with your Witchmark remains cursed until your Rage ends, even if you curse another.
Witched Storm As an Action during your Rage, you can unleash your Witchmark in a 30-foot Emanation: creatures in the Emanation must succeed on a Charisma saving throw or be cursed with your Witchmark, suffering the same penalties, until your Rage ends. Creatures of your choice have advantage on the saving throw, and the DC for the saving throw equals 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier.
Stinging Jinx As an Action during your Rage, you can deal 1 damage to every creature cursed by your Witchmark, including yourself. The damage type is the same you chose for your Witchmark.
Level 14: Voracious Mark
As a Bonus Action, you can command your Witchmark to fester within a creature already cursed with it. The curse worsens for that creature: the damage dealt increases to 4d8 (4d10 at level 15+ or 4d12 at level 17+) and the creature has Disadvantage on all ability checks and attack rolls it makes, in addition to saving throws made with the ability you chose for your Witchmark. The creature can make a Charisma saving throw on the end of each of its turns, reducing the curse to its normal severity on a success; the save DC equals 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier).
You can command your Witchmark in this way once, regaining the use when you finish a Long Rest unless you expend a use of your Rage (no action required) to restore your use of it.
