Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

While some barbarians are known for their immense appetites, for consuming food and foe alike with reckless abandon, there exists a rarer breed whose hunger eclipses all others. These are the ravenous—beings for whom appetite is not a passing desire, but a defining trait, a force that governs every action, every heartbeat, every breath they take.

The ravenous do not simply eat to live; they live to consume. Their hunger is insatiable, ever-present, and utterly unrelenting. Where others find satisfaction, they find only a fleeting pause before the next surge of craving. A full belly means nothing to the ravenous, for the void inside them is not one that food, drink, or even conquest can fill.

To witness a ravenous barbarian in battle is to see hunger made flesh. They tear through enemies not with strategy, but with ferocity, as if devouring the very essence of their foes. Their eyes gleam not with rage or hatred, but with a deep and gnawing desire—to consume, to take, to never stop. Bones break beneath their blows, not just as a means to an end, but as an act of primal feasting. The battlefield becomes their banquet hall, and every corpse left in their wake is a dish cleared from the table.

It would be a mistake to think their hunger is limited to the physical. The ravenous hunger for more than meat and blood. They crave power, chaos, and dominion. They are drawn to conflict as moths to flame, not because they seek glory, but because war feeds something deeper within them. They are never content, never still. Even in moments of quiet, when the fires of battle have died down and others rest or revel, the ravenous pace like caged beasts, hungering for the next thrill, the next fight, the next kill.

Legends tell of ravenous barbarians who have eaten through entire stores of provisions in a single night, who have turned on comrades in starvation-fueled frenzies, who have fought beasts ten times their size simply for the chance to taste their flesh. Some say their hunger is a curse, others a blessing of dark gods. Whatever its origin, it grants them a resilience that borders on the supernatural. Wounds that would kill ordinary men seem only to inflame their appetite, spurring them into greater frenzy.

To become ravenous is to surrender to that void within, to embrace the endless pursuit of more. It is a path not chosen lightly, for once that hunger takes hold, it never releases. But those who endure it, who harness it, become more than warriors—they become predators without peer, apex forces of nature whose hunger drives them ever forward.

And though they may feast on victory today, their eyes are always scanning the horizon, lips slick with blood, stomach rumbling anew. For the ravenous, there is no such thing as enough. There is only the next bite, the next thrill, the next conquest.

They always hunger for more.

Scavenger

When you choose this path at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in Survival and Cook's Utensils.

Carnivorous

Starting at 3rd level, you can go into a feeding frenzy when you rage. If you do so, for the duration of your rage, you can make a single bite attack when you enter your rage, and as a bonus action on each of your turns after this one. Your jaw counts as a simple melee weapon for you, and you add your Strength modifier to the attack and damage rolls when you attack with it, as normal. Your jaw deals 1d8 piercing damage on a hit. This damage increases to 2d8 at 10th level, 3d8 at 15th level, and 4d8 at 20th level.

Digestion

Beginning at 6th level, you make sure to chew your food thoroughly in order to properly digest it. Your Jaw is considered magical for the purposes of overcoming resistances. Additionally, you manifest a physical trait depending on the type of creature you last bit with your Jaw attack during your rage, including yourself. This benefit lasts until you finish a long rest, or until you bite a different living creature with your Jaws during your rage and choose to manifest the new trait.

Creature Type Manifestation
Beast You gain a climbing speed, flying speed or a swimming speed equal to your walking speed, depending on the type of movement the beast has. Additionally, you gain any senses the beast had, such as Darkvision.
Dragon Gain a breath weapon matching the type of breath weapon of the last dragon you bit. See the Dragonborn racial ability for details.
Giant You physically increase by one size. Additionally, you count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift.
Humanoid You gain a number of temporary HP equal to your CON modifier.
Monstrocity You choose a physical modification, resembling the monster that you bit. For example, an owlbear may give you claws, or a beak (your choice), while a kraken may give you tentacles for arms. Regardless, this manifestation counts as a melee weapon for you, and deals 2d6 damage + your Strength modifier, as normal.
Ooze You gain resistance to Acid damage. Additionally, you can digest nonmagical material usually seen as inedible. You can eat up to a number of pounds equal to your CON modifier per long rest.
Plant You gain the ability to communicate in a limited manner with beasts, plants, and vegetation. They can understand the meaning of your words, though you have no special ability to understand them. You have advantage on all CHA checks you make to influence them. Additionally, if you are completely still for at least one minute, you gain advantage on Stealth checks as long as you remain there without moving or taking actions.

Salted Meats

At 10th level, you gain the self-control to harvest some of the meat and save it for later. Immediately after a combat encounter, you can attempt a Survival check to harvest a number of dead creatures equal to half your CON modifier, rounded up (minimum 1). The DC for this check depends on its size, as seen in the table below. On a failed save, the creature parts are spoiled or unusable. On a success, you harvest 1 serving that you can store and eat later as a bonus action, as it remains fresh, to gain the benefit presented above. Only you may gain these benefits from eating the serving, and these raw servings expire after one workweek.
