Base Class: Monk

Through your personal connection to the Dark Lord of the Mists of the Domains of Dread, you have learnt to channel the power of the primal domain he commands. Using your very soul to focus the fear and darkness of the Domains, you can use your ki to curse your enemies and move through the mists as if you were an aspiring Dark Lord.

 

Level 3: Form of Mist

At 1st level, you manifest an aspect of your patron’s Domain powers. As a bonus action, you transform for 1 minute, channeling the presence of the mists. You can dismiss this transformation as a free action. You gain the following benefits while transformed:

  • Once during each of your turns, when you hit a creature with an attack or spell, you can spend 1 ki point to force it to make a Wisdom saving throw, and if the saving throw fails, the target is frightened of you for 1 minute.
  • You are immune to the frightened condition.
  • Once during each of your turns, when you hit a creature with a melee attack or spell and roll damage against the creature, you can replace the damage type with necrotic damage.

 

Level 3: Expanded Spell List

 Spellcasting Ability

Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for your monk spells, as you channel your spells through your very mind and soul. You use your Wisdom whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Wisdom modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a monk spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier

Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier

 

You gain Mist spells at the monk levels listed.

You do not use spell slots to cast your monk spells. Instead, you use a number of ki points equal to the level of the spell.
 
 

Level 6: Bound Soul

 Starting at 6th level, your soul is bound to another, and cannot be moved against your will. You cannot be teleported to another location or plane of existence against your will, except to the Domain of your patron.

Additionally, when you deal necrotic damage with your melee attack or monk spell, your damage ignores resistance to necrotic damage.

 

Level 11: Conduit of the Mists

 Starting at 11th level, as an action, you channel the mists to create a thick cloud of mist that surrounds you for 20 feet in all directions. The mist moves with you, remaining centered on you and making its area heavily obscured. You and each creature within 5 feet of you instead treat the area as lightly obscured. This mist lasts for 10 minutes, spreads around corners, and cannot be dispersed unless you choose to end this effect (no action required).

Any hostile creature that ends its turn within this mist must make a wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the target creature becomes frightened of you for 1 minute.

 

Level 17: Vestige of the Domains

 Starting at 17th level, you can upcast your monk spells. You can do so by expending ki points equal to the level of the spell slot you are attempting to cast the spell at.
