Druid
Base Class: Druid

"The woods are my temple, the sword my prayer. For every tree felled, a goblin falls. For every tomb defiled, a thief meets the earth."

The Circle of the Verdant Blade is an order of druids who have taken up arms to defend the Neverwinter Woods from those who would despoil it. These druids blend martial prowess with primal magic, becoming swift and deadly guardians of the forest. They are known for their signature curved, leaf-shaped blades and their relentless pursuit of goblinoids, tomb robbers, and other defilers of the wild.

Bonus Proficiencies

At 3rd level, you gain proficiency with either sickles, scimitars, or short swords, and your walking speed increases by 5ft.

Scimitar

You gain proficiency with scimitars.

Shortsword

You gain proficiency with short swords.

Sickle

You gain proficiency with sickles.

Verdant Blade

Also at 3rd level, you learn to summon a mystical, leaf-shaped blade infused with nature's wrath. As a bonus action, you can magically summon a scimitar, shortsword, or sickle made of hardened wood and thorny vines. This weapon is considered magical, uses your Wisdom modifier for attack and damage rolls (instead of Strength or Dexterity), and deals slashing damage.

The blade vanishes if it leaves your grasp for more than a minute, but you can summon it again as a bonus action.
You are limited to one Verdant Blade at a time. If a second one is summoned, the first disappears.

Dual Blades

Starting at 6th level, your skill with the Verdant Blade increases. You can now summon a second Verdant Blade without dismissing the first. Additionally, you can now use the Verdant Blade as a druidic focus.

This allows you to now use two-weapon fighting while still being able to cast spells.

You are now limited to two Verdant Blades. If a third is summoned, the first blade disappears.

Guardian's Smite

At 10th level, your strikes carry the wrath of the forest.

Once per turn when you hit a creature with your Verdant Blade, you can expend a spell slot to deal Poison damage to the target, in addition to the weapon's damage. The additional damage is 1d6 for a 1st level spell slot, plus 1d6 for each spell level higher than 1st.

Additionally, if the target is a goblinoid or undead, they have disadvantage on their next attack roll before the end of their next turn.

Avatar of the Verdant Blade

At 14th level, you become an unstoppable force of nature’s retribution. As an action, you can transform into a swirling storm of leaves and steel for 1 minute. While in this form:

  • Your movement speed increases by 10 feet.
  • You gain a +2 bonus to AC.
  • Your Verdant Blade deals an additional 1d6 slashing damage.
  • Once per turn, when you hit a creature, you can force them to make a Strength saving throw against your spell save DC or be knocked prone.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
