Base Class: Paladin
Far in the past, there was a land known as Ivalice. Though long since wiped from the map, some tales of its heroes and villains have made their way through the ages. Among these tales were stories of their mystical Knights - orders that wove magic through their blades for attack and defense.
In recent years, scholars have uncovered a training manual for one such order - the Holy Knights of the Northern Sky. The greatest of these knights could conjure enormous blades to damage their foes while inflicting status conditions that would prevent retaliation - or prevent them from moving against the innocent.
Using this manual as a spiritual guide, a new order of Paladins has arisen, taking their name from the ancients they emulate.
Tenets of the Holy Sword
Paladins who swear the Oath of the Holy Sword devote themselves to protecting the innocent, striking down evil with divine blades of light, and carrying themselves with unwavering loyalty.
-
Devotion. Your loyalty is unbroken, whether to crown, faith, or the innocent.
-
Judgement. You bring divine wrath against corruption and darkness.
-
Sanctity. You wield your holy blade as both weapon and symbol of faith.

Channel Divinity
When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following Channel Divinity options:
-
Blade of Conviction. As an action, you conjure a spectral greatsword of radiant energy in your hands. For 1 minute, your weapon attacks deal an additional 1d8 radiant damage.
-
Sword of Judgement. As an action, you cause enormous swords of light to erupt from the ground in a 10-foot radius centered on a point within 30 feet. Each creature of your choice in the area must make a Dexterity saving throw, taking radiant damage equal to 2d8 + your paladin level on a failed save, or half as much on a success.
Aura of Faith (7th level)
You and friendly creatures within 10 feet of you gain resistance to radiant and necrotic damage. At 18th level, this aura increases to 30 feet.
Holy Sword Mastery (15th level)
Your spectral swords grow more potent. When you deal radiant damage with a paladin spell or class feature, you add your Charisma modifier to the damage dealt. In addition, when you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can cause a spectral blade of light to strike a second creature of your choice within 10 feet of the original target, dealing radiant damage equal to your Charisma modifier.
Exalted Judgement (20th level)
As an action, you can assume the form of a radiant champion for 1 minute:
-
Enormous spectral swords swirl around you in a 15-foot radius. Whenever a creature of your choice starts its turn in the aura, it takes 2d8 radiant damage.
-
When you take the Attack action, you can make one additional attack as a bonus action.
-
Once per turn, when you hit with a weapon attack, you deal an additional 2d8 radiant damage.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
Level 3: Oath of the Holy Sword Spells
The magic of your oath ensures you always have certain spells ready; when you reach a Paladin level specified in the Oath of the Holy Sword table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.
| Paladin Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3 | Searing Smite, Guiding Bolt |
| 5 | Warding Bond, Spiritual Weapon |
| 9 | Daylight, Spirit Guardians |
| 13 | Guardian of Faith, Death Ward |
| 17 | Dispel Evil and Good, Greater Restoration |
Channel Divinity: Sword of Judgement
Your justice extends beyond the bounds of your physical body.
Level 3: Channel Divinity: Blade of Conviction
As an action, you can expend one use of your Channel Divinity to conjure the Blade of Conviction - a spectral Greatsword composed of Radiant Energy - into your hands. If you are already holding a weapon, you can choose to conjure the Greatsword or imbue your current weapon with its properties. The sword lasts for 1 minute and your weapon attacks made during this time gain the following benefits:
- attack rolls can be made with the user's casting modifier instead of the normal modifier for the attack, whichever is higher
- successful attacks deal the weapon's damage dice and can deal either the weapon's normal damage type or Radiant damage, chosen when the damage is rolled
- successful attacks also deal 1d8 Radiant damage in addition to the weapon's damage dice.
- you are considered proficient with the weapon while this effect persists - whether you imbued an existing weapon or conjured the Blade of Conviction
The weapon also emits Bright Light in a 10-foot radius and Dim Light 10 feet beyond that.
You can end this effect early (no action required). This effect also ends if you aren’t carrying the weapon.
Level 7: Aura of Faith
Your Faith in your vows enhances the defensive qualities of your Aura of Protection.
You and your allies have resistance to necrotic and radiant damage while in your Aura of Protection.
Level 15: Holy Sword Mastery
As your faith intensifies, your spectral swords grow more potent.
Exalted Judgement
As you reach the pinnacle of your faith, you become a holy embodiment of Justice. To facilitate your ability to mete out that justice, you gain the ability to manifest as a holy champion.
As an action: assume the form of a radiant champion for 1 minute:
- Enormous spectral swords swirl around you in a 15-foot radius. Whenever a creature of your choice starts its turn in the aura, it takes 2d8 radiant damage.
- When you take the Attack action, you can make one additional attack as a bonus action.
- Once per turn, when you hit with a weapon attack, you deal an additional 2d8 radiant damage.
- You are immune to Radiant damage for the duration
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
