Base Class: Gunslinger
Some gunslingers cultivate patience, aiming for the perfect shot to end a fight in a single pull of the trigger. Others refine their craft until they can shoot the wings off a fly at a hundred paces. But for you, none of that matters — precision is just a luxury. You live for the roar of gunfire, the acrid smoke filling your lungs, and the panicked looks on your enemies’ faces when they realize you’re not going to stop shooting until the battlefield is silent.
Trigger Happy gunslingers don’t count bullets, they spend them. They care less about lining up a killing blow and more about drowning their foes in sheer volume. To them, a firearm isn’t just a weapon — it’s a storm waiting to be unleashed. Whether through sweeping barrages that pin down whole squads, or fanning their triggers until the barrels glow, these marksmen embody chaos in its loudest, deadliest form.
At the heart of their fighting style is the Happy Die, a reckless gamble that turns discipline into raw momentum. With every roll, they decide just how much lead to pour into their foes, trusting their luck and their fast hands to carry them through. Trigger Happy gunslingers don’t waste time with restraint: if they have advantage, they double down with more shots instead. If both hands are full of iron, they’ll reload in mid-spin without breaking stride.
Theirs is a style of attrition and pressure. Where other gunslingers aim to conserve ammunition and pick their moments, Trigger Happy gunslingers never give their enemies the chance to act. They advance behind clouds of gunfire, guns blazing, overwhelming their opponents until there’s nothing left standing. In their hands, the battlefield becomes a killing floor — and the only rule is to keep pulling the trigger until the smoke clears.
Level 3: Wild Barrage
When you have advantage on a firearm attack roll, you can choose to forgo the advantage. If you do, you instead make two firearm attacks against the same target.
Level 3: Happy Die [Maneuver]
As an action, you can expend a Risk Die to gain a Happy Die (d4). Roll your Happy Die and immediately make that many additional firearm attacks.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Dexterity Modifier, and regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Your Happy Die grows as you gain levels in this archetype:
6th level: d6, 10th level: d8, 14th level: d10
Level 6: Fan the Bullets
When you make multiple attacks against a singular target with an action, you can target multiple creatures within 15 feet of the initial target instead.
Level 10: Hyper Trigger
When wielding a firearm in each hand:
- You can reload both firearms as part of any reload you perform.
- When you take the Attack action, you may fire once with each weapon instead of one.
- You can make off-hand firearm attacks even if the weapon lacks the light property.
Level 14: Metal Rain
You can unleash a storm of lead that few can match. Once per long rest, you may enter a Bullet Frenzy as a bonus action, lasting for 1 minute. While in this state:
- At the start of each of your turns, you may roll your Happy Die without expending a Risk Die.
- Whenever you hit a creature with two or more firearm attacks in a turn, you deal extra damage equal to your Dexterity modifier.
- You cannot be disarmed of firearms while conscious.
