Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Barbarians of the Awakened are more than their fury. Once dismissed as mere brutes, they break free of those expectations, discovering a hidden spark of magic within. Their rage becomes a conduit for this awakened essence, allowing them to empower their strikes, shield allies, and shape the battlefield in ways no ordinary warrior could.

Magic Awareness

3rd-level Path of Awakened feature

As an action, you can open your awareness to the presence of concentrated magic. Until the end of your next turn, you know the location of any spell or magic item within 60 feet of you that isn’t behind total cover. When you sense a spell, you learn which school of magic it belongs to.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Awakened Fury

  • Awakened Points. You gain a pool of Awakened Points equal to 3 at 3rd level, and you gain +1 point for every barbarian level thereafter. These points function like sorcery points (if you multiclass into sorcerer, they can be exchanged 1-for-1). You regain all spent points when you finish a long rest.

  • Barbarian Metamagic. You learn 2 Awakened Metamagics from the list below (see options). You gain another at 10th level.

  • Awakened Metamagic Options (examples):

    • Empowered Strength. Spend 1 point when you Rage to increase your Strength by +1 (max 24) until the Rage ends.

    • Elemental Strike. Spend 2 points when you hit with a weapon attack to change the damage type (fire, cold, lightning, thunder, acid, radiant, or necrotic).

    • Furious Assault. Spend 3 points when you take the Attack action to make one additional weapon attack.

    • Defiant Guardian. Spend 2 points as a reaction when a creature within 10 feet is hit to grant them resistance to that attack’s damage.

    • Unyielding Rush. Spend 2 points to Dash as a bonus action and ignore opportunity attacks until the end of your turn.

Spell-Fury

6th-level Path of Awakened feature

  • Spellcasting in Rage. You can cast spells while raging by spending 1 Awakened Point per spell level in addition to the spell’s normal cost (if multiclassing).

  • Restriction. You cannot maintain concentration while raging. Any concentration spell ends at the end of round if in a Rage.

  • Protective Instinct. When you cast a spell while raging that targets or protects an ally (such as Shield of Faith, Heroism, or Cure Wounds), you may add your Constitution modifier to the healing or temporary hit points granted.

Spirit of the Awakened

10th-level Path of the Awakened feature

  • Expanded Metamagic. You learn one additional Barbarian Metamagic.

  • Awakened Mind. Your spiritual awareness sharpens. You gain proficiency in Wisdom saving throws (if you already have this, choose Intelligence or Charisma instead).

  • Awakened Surge. Once per Rage, when you roll initiative or start your turn with 0 Awakened Points, you regain 2 Awakened Points.

Protector’s Transcendence

6th-level Path of the Awakened feature

  • Aura of the Awakened. While raging, allies within 10 feet of you gain resistance to the damage type you chose with Elemental Strike (or, if you haven’t chosen that metamagic, choose one type when you Rage).

  • Transcendent Fury. You can spend 5 Awakened Points to enter a heightened state for 1 minute:

    • You can make one additional reaction per round (up to 2 total).

    • When you or an ally within 10 feet is reduced to 0 HP but not killed outright, you can use your reaction to let them drop to 1 HP instead.

    • You emit a faint aura (flames, storm-winds, radiant light — your choice) symbolizing your awakened soul.
