Wizard
Base Class: Wizard

Retrocasters have the unfortunate luck of having all their spells go wrong, all the time. Fear not though, for this goes both ways, allowing you to cast the spell you want by casting the opposite spell, though it doesn't always work. This is a subclass based off of the character "Perf" in the show JourneyQuest.

Beginner Retrocaster

Beginning when you select this school at 2nd level, your spells begin to go awry in ways you didn't know were possible. When you cast a spell, roll a d20. On a roll of 1-19, roll on the Sorcerer's Wild Magic Surge table, replacing the spell's intended effect with that of the rolled result. On a roll of 20, the spell does the exact opposite of what it is supposed to do. A spell to heal deals damage instead, a spell to purify food or water poisons it instead. When a feature refers to your Retrocasting feature, it is referring to the highest level version of this feature you have available to you.

Hey, It Worked!

When you reach 2nd level, choose a Cantrip that you know from the Wizard Spell List. Whenever you cast this cantrip, it ignores the effects of the Retrocaster feature. When you reach 5th level, choose a 1st level spell that you have in your spellbook. When you cast this spell at its lowest level, it ignores the effects of your Retrocaster feature. When you reach 11th level, choose a 2nd level spell that you have in your spellbook. When you cast this spell at its lowest level, it ignores the effects of your Retrocaster feature. When you reach 17th level, choose a 3rd level spell that you have in your spellbook. When you cast this spell at its lowest level, it ignores the effects of your Retrocaster feature.

Retrocaster Adept

Starting at 6th level, your Retrocasting skills have improved. When you cast a spell, roll a d20. On a roll of 1-15, roll on the Sorcerer's Wild Magic Surge table, replacing the spell's intended effect with that of the rolled result. On a roll of 16-20, the spell does the exact opposite of what it is supposed to do.

Experienced Retrocaster

Beginning at 10th level, your Retrocasting skills have improved. When you cast a spell, roll a d20. On a roll of 1-5, roll on the Sorcerer's Wild Magic Surge table, replacing the spell's intended effect with that of the rolled result. On a roll of 6-20, the spell does the exact opposite of what it is supposed to do.

True Retrocaster

Starting at 14th level, your Retrocasting power reaches its full potential. When you cast a spell, the spell does the exact opposite of what it is supposed to do.

In addition, choose one 4th level spell that is in your spellbook. When you cast this spell at its lowest level it works in the way it is supposed to, rather than having the opposite effect.
