Base Class: Monk
“Way of brutality” Is a new home brewed subclass made by me(sharkie) who tries to make monk a viable selection for players playing Tank for the party.
This subclass restricts Monk into only using unarmed strikes and will gain debuffs for holding weapons. To counter balance Monk will be gaining and whole slew of new abilities to help him resist damages, apply stuns/dazes and reduce enemy moments along with gain Health.
Level 3: Combat Savagery
Combat Savagery gives you two new moves upon picking up path of the brutalist as your monk subclass. The moves are as followed.
- [Reckless charge]
When you roll initiative, you may immediately move up to your movement speed in a straight line before combat begins. If this movement causes you to collide with an enemy, they must make a Strength saving throw (DC = 8 + proficiency + STR/DEX modifier)
On a failed save, the enemy takes 1d6 + your Martial Arts die bludgeoning damage and their movement is reduced to 0 until the end of their next turn. Your movement ends in the space before the enemy.
- [Adrenaline]
You take no damage from the triggering attack/spell until the start of your next turn.At the start of your turn, make a Constitution save (DC = 8 + half prevented damage).
On a success: take half the prevented damage.
On a failure: take the full amount.
[Usable once per long rest, or spend 3 Ki to use again.]
Bare knuckle
You cannot equip weapons at all while using this subclass. If you try, you must make a Strength check (DC 10 + weapon weight in lbs) or drop it immediately.
Weapons and Monk weapons that are exclusively not unarmed strikes will always roll Hit/Attack with Disadvantage
You can still use improvised weapons, but these are treated as unarmed strikes (1d4 damage + modifiers).
Level 6: Combo Breaker
Combo breaker allows The way of brutality Monk to have 4 new reaction moves that will be added to unarmed strikes when used. (Like a monk version of smite)
1.Headbutt: When you make an unarmed strike you may make a reaction to apply this move.
The target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw (DC = 8 + proficiency + STR/DEX) or be dazed until the start of your next turn and you take 1d4 recoil bludgeoning damage.
(Dazed = they can’t take reactions, and their next attack roll is at disadvantage)
2.Foot Stomp: When you make an unarmed strike you may make a reaction to apply this move.
Target makes a Dexterity saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength). On a failure, their movement speed is reduced to 0 until the end of their next turn and can no longer disengage.
3.knee strike: When you make an unarmed strike you may make a reaction to apply this move.
If you hit a creature no larger than one size above you, it must succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength) or be knocked prone.
4. Elbow Smash: When you make an unarmed strike you may make a reaction to apply this move.
On hit, you deal extra damage equal to your Martial Arts die (stacking with normal unarmed strike damage).
Level 11: Legendary Champion
Legendary champion provides 2 new bonus actions along with a small modifier to your constitution.
Thumbs down: As a bonus action, you mark one creature you can see within 30 feet. The mark lasts for 3 rounds or until the creature drops to 0 hit points, you become incapacitated, or you mark a different creature.
While the target is marked, whenever that creature takes damage from any source, you regain hit points equal to half your proficiency bonus (rounded down).
If you deal the damage yourself with unarmed strikes or monk features, you instead regain hit points equal to half the damage dealt (rounded down).
You can use this feature 2 Times and need a long rest to use again.
Execution: when you bring a creature to 0 hit points with an attack, you may unleash a brutal finishing display.
As part of the same action, you can choose to perform an Execution.
All enemies of your choice within 30 feet who can see you must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Constitution modifier) or become Frightened of you until the end of your next turn.
While performing the Execution, your stance locks you in place — you cannot move until the start of your next turn.
can only be used 1 time before needing a short rest.
Primordial Champion
Champion is the capstone for the way of brutality subclass for monk. This will put you as the best tank on the team and put fear to all enemies that oppose you.
Champions wrath: while you are at half hit points or bellow you become resistant to all damage and enemies within 15ft of you have disadvantage on all attack rolls against you and allies within 25ft of you
