Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Some barbarians lose themselves to rage; others find perfect stillness. A Veiled Fury Barbarian channels primal instinct into silence — every heartbeat a weapon, every motion deliberate. Their fury burns cold: an apex predator’s composure before the kill.

Level 3 – Silent Focus

When you choose this path at 3rd level, your fury becomes focus rather than frenzy.

Focused Rage

When you enter your rage, you instead enter a state of Focused Rage. This replaces your normal Rage feature. You no longer gain the benefits of Rage described in the Barbarian class; instead, all class features and abilities that reference Rage now apply to your Focused Rage.

While in Focused Rage:

  • You gain advantage on Dexterity checks and saving throws instead of Strength checks and saving throws.
  • You still gain your Rage Damage bonus, but only on finesse or ranged weapons using Strength or Dexterity (your choice when you attack).
  • You can’t use Reckless Attack while in Focused Rage.
  • You have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage.

Still as the Hunt

Entering rage no longer requires shouting or visible outbursts. You can enter rage even while hidden, and doing so does not reveal your position.

Level 6 – Predator’s Patience

Your focus sharpens your movements into deadly anticipation.

  • While in Focused Rage, if you start your turn hidden or unseen, the first attack that hits that turn deals an additional 1d8 damage of the weapon’s type (2d8 at 10th level, 3d8 at 14th level).
  • You can take the Hide action as a bonus action while raging.
  • You gain Proficiency in Stealth if you don’t already have it. If you already have it, you gain Expertise in it instead.

Level 10 – Veiled Instinct

Your instincts act faster than thought.

  • When you roll for initiative, you can immediately enter Focused Rage, expending a use of Rage as normal.
  • You can’t be surprised while you are conscious.
  • While in Focused Rage, opportunity attacks against you are made with disadvantage, and you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on an attack made against an ally within 5 feet.

Still Mind

Your Focused Rage is a state of absolute composure — a tranquil fury that steadies body and thought alike. While in Focused Rage, your control is so precise that even the weave of magic bends to your focus.

If you have the ability to cast spells, you can cast and maintain only spells that reflect silent discipline, perception, or controlled motion.

While in Focused Rage:

  • You may cast spells that are subtle or meditative in nature, such as those that enhance your senses, alter your body, cloak your presence, or shape the world through calm intent.
  • You cannot cast spells that create loud, destructive, or overtly verbal effects, such as those that rely solely on speech or that unleash raw elemental force.
  • You cannot cast spells that directly deal damage to creatures or that rely on verbal components alone.
  • Casting a spell outside these bounds immediately ends your Focused Rage.
  • You make Constitution saving throws with advantage to maintain concentration on any eligible spell while in Focused Rage.

Level 14 – Shadow’s Apex

Your focus reaches a lethal apex — a perfect union of instinct and precision.

  • While in Focused Rage, when you miss a melee weapon attack, you can use this feature to reroll that attack roll. You must use the new result.
  • You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Dexterity modifier (minimum 1) per rage.
  • When you score a critical hit, you regain one expended use of this feature.
  • Additionally, while in dim light or darkness, your weapon attacks score a critical hit on a roll of 19–20.
