Base Class: Ranger
Despite the existence of terrifying beasts and horrifying abominations, some still insist that the most reprehensible creatures are those that live amongst us, carrying out crimes and hurting their fellow man for their own gain.
The bounty hunter has dedicated their life to tracking down and putting an end to the crimes being carried out by these selfish individuals. Not only do they know how to fight, but they also specialise in using abilities to track down and ensnare these foes.
Sometimes the guard will work hand in hand with these individuals in order to catch dangerous criminals. Some guards however, believe the chaos of vigilantism is not an evil that should be stooped down to.
Not all bounty hunters are doing the job for purely altruistic reasons however. Some clients will pay heavy amounts of coin, coin enough to make somebody sitting on the fence of morality choose a side. That side, is normally the side that pays the most.
Bounty Hunter Magic
Starting at 3rd level, you learn an additional spell when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown in the Horizon Walker Spells table. The spell counts as a ranger spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of ranger spells you know.
Bounty Hunter Spells
Level 3: Entangle
Level 5: Hold Person
Level 9: Haste
Level 13: Arcane Eye
Level 17: Wall Of Force
Criminal Knowledge
In order to better gain information on the bounties you are hunting you learned thieves’ cant, a secret mix of dialect, jargon, and code that allows you to hide messages in seemingly normal conversation. Only another creature that knows thieves’ cant understands such messages. It takes four times longer to convey such a message than it does to speak the same idea plainly.
In addition, you understand a set of secret signs and symbols used to convey short, simple messages, such as whether an area is dangerous or the territory of a thieves’ guild, whether loot is nearby, or whether the people in an area are easy marks or will provide a safe house for thieves on the run.
Also, you can spend an hour trailing your mark in order to learn their habits. This creature will count as a favoured enemy for you after this, and you will gain the same benefits of this.
Attacking Pursuit
As a bounty hunter, you'll often find yourself having to chase down your foe whilst attempting to immobilise them.
Starting at level 3, as a bonus action, you can make an additional weapon attack, as long as you have moved at least 20ft during your turn.
Makings Of Fame
As your fame (or notoriety) begins to increase, it's more likely that you will be paid more handsomely for your work. Those who believe in your message might also be more willing to aid you.
Starting at level 7, you gain advantage in all charisma checks that pertain to being rewarded for quests and bounties, as well as charisma checks related to haggling for deals whilst bartering with people.
Deadeye
You've been hunting marks long enough now to know the weak points that most creatures tend to share with each other.
Starting at level 11, your attacks are critical hits on a roll of 19 or 20.
Bounty Hunting Equipment
As you have continued to hunt your marks, you have realised that some marks are too tough to be taken in by conventional means, and that you must upgrade your arsenal in order to gain the upper hand.
At level 15, you can design and create a piece of equipment which will aid you in your work. Work alongside with your DM, who will help you to create an item or piece of equipment for use by your character. At each level after this, you can design a new piece of equipment to use.
Your DM will decide how much this equipment will cost, and how long it takes to make.
Any equipment you make counts as a magical item, and deals magical damage in the consideration of immunity to physical damage.
